Court News

LISBON — An East Liverpool man already sentenced to 17 months in prison in October pleaded guilty recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to charges from two more cases.

William Weyand, 54, Laura Avenue, was sentenced to seven months each in prison for fifth-degree felonies of receiving stolen property and possession of fentanyl-related compound, with the terms to be served consecutively to each other for a total term of 14 months, but at the same time as the 17-month term from the fall.

Weyand was accused of possessing $3,609 worth of stolen collectibles in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Aug. 12, 2024 in East Liverpool and possessed fentanyl on May 6, 2024.

The term from the fall was for fifth-degree felonies of breaking and entering, attempted grand theft of a motor vehicle, theft, and forgery, with credit for one day served in jail. Weyand forced trespass into an unoccupied structure to steal a vehicle title and forge the owner’s signature on Dec. 10, 2023 in Elkrun Township, in an attempt to steal the vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Avalanche.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— John Soldo, 51, Sixth Street, Salem, was sentenced to nine months in prison for third-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and second-degree felony possession of fentanyl-related compound, with credit for 84 days served in jail, for possessing fentanyl and an amount of methamphetamine equal or greater than bulk but less than five times bulk on Sept. 21, 2022, along with $187 for a forfeiture specification.

— Joshua Marshall, 37, Canfield, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felony theft, with sentencing set for May 19. He was accused of taking $3,800 for a landscaping job at a New Waterford property and then failing to return to finish the work. The dates included June 14, 2023 to June 16, 2023.

— Tiffany Woolley, 38, East Liverpool Road, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felony violating a protection order, with sentencing set for April 18. Three additional charges of violating a protection order will be dismissed. She was accused of entering the home of a protected person on May 30 and violating a protection order multiple times without permission in East Liverpool.

— Corey Schutte, 30, Uniontown, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them, a fourth-degree felony, with sentencing set for June 6. A second count of OVI was dismissed. The charge stemmed from an Aug. 2, 2024 incident.

Municipal

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, cases against Harry Baum, 38, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, were bound over to the county grand jury for misdemeanors of domestic violence and resisting arrest and fifth-degree felony obstructing official business for allegedly being involved in a domestic on March 30 in East Liverpool, where officers were called and could hear screaming coming from the apartment. When entry was attempted, he allegedly began telling officers to leave while making threats and refusing to open the door. He also allegedly pulled away from officers trying to handcuff him and refused to place his hands behind his back. The misdemeanor charges were originally fourth-degree felonies.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set April 14 for Joshua Gallimore, 37, East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, charged with fourth-degree felonies of escape and resisting arrest, fifth-degree felonies of violating a protection order and obstructing official business and misdemeanor theft for allegedly running from deputies after being handcuffed behind his back on a warrant for a felony protection order violation on April 5. An affidavit from a deputy said Gallimore jumped down a steep embankment into a river with the handcuffs, with one deputy continuing after him and injuring his right knee. Gallimore ignored multiple commands to stop running

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set April 14 for Shane Murphy, 19, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, charged with fifth-degree felony vandalism and two counts of misdemeanor assault for allegedly pushing away a pregnant woman while he was assaulting a man and also punching and kicking the woman’s vehicle, causing significant dents and damage to her 2024 Kia sedan on April 5 in Lisbon. Murphy allegedly pulled the man from a vehicle and threw him to the ground, punching him several times and then kicking him to the face.

A preliminary hearing was set May 22 for Justin Lake, 28, Woodland Avenue, Salem, charged with fifth-degree felony vandalism for allegedly punching a tablet and breaking it while he was an inmate at the Columbiana County jail on March 30.

A preliminary hearing was set April 14 for Noah Tyler Bainbridge, 26, East Pidgeon Road, Salem, charged with failure to verify residence address, a fourth-degree felony, for failing to verify his address for the sex offender registration on March 27.

Kimberly Sue Reash, 63, Boardman, was fined $250 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for domestic violence. She was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to stay away from the victim. She was accused of hitting a man in the face and throwing and breaking things in the residence on Dec. 22, 2024 in Middleton Township.

Sammy Shaneyfelt, 71, St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $200 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 165 days suspended and credit for three days served, leaving a balance of 12 days still to serve for assault. Shaneyfelt was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim. On July 2, 2024 in East Liverpool, he was allegedly being loud and called a store clerk a derogatory name, then kneed and threatened a customer who told him to leave the clerk alone.

A pretrial was set June 30 for Asia Williams, 37, East Liverpool Road, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly kicking and punching a man in East Liverpool on April 5 and hitting him in the face.

A pretrial was set April 21 for Dorian Lowrey, 50, Hawkins Road, New Waterford, charged with domestic violence for allegedly threatening a woman with serious physical harm and smacking another female in the back of the head on April 5 in Unity Township.

A pretrial was set April 24 for Michael Souers, 37, Canton, charged with violating a protection order and criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing on a property and knocking on the door of the residence in Salem in violation of a protection order on April 5.

A pretrial was set June 23 for Joseph R. Crowder, 26, Alliance, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $80 from an undercover agent, then driving to Salem for the meeting on April 4 with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A pretrial was set June 30 for Robert Colton Lamar Opatrny, 24, Madison, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with females in exchange for $250, then traveling to Eat Palestine on April 4 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

Timothy J. Kondik, 56, North Canton, was fined $850 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for engaging in prostitution, possessing criminal tools and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and a 12-hour education course. Kondik was accused of requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $300 from an undercover agent, then traveling to Salem on Jan. 10 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession. He also possessed a bag for the storage of dangerous drugs in his jacket pocket.

William Cooper, 41, Bell Road, Lisbon, was fined $250 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for telecommunications harassment. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim. He was accused of continuing to message a woman on April 20, 2024 after being warned two separate times to desist by the victim.

A pretrial was set April 10 for Jessica Hill, 42, West Wilson Street, Salem, charged with driving under suspension, obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a glass pipe and giving a false name and date of birth during a traffic stop on April 5 in Salem.

A pretrial was set June 10 for Robert Reckner, 44, Grant Street, Lisbon, charged with obstructing official business for allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop on April 5 in Center Township and being taken into custody in the woods on an active arrest warrant through the Adult Parole Authority.

A pretrial was set June 10 for Robert Tucker, 74, Campground Road, Wellsville, charged with theft and criminal trespass for allegedly entering the Calcutta Walmart after being previously trespassed from the store and then stealing 30 items valued at $109 on March 27.

A pretrial was set June 2 for Kenny Montgomery, 68, Oakmont Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with theft for allegedly failing to scan and pay for 20 items totaling $193 at the Calcutta Walmart on March 31.

A pretrial was set June 12 for Blake Solmen, 24, Newgarden Avenue, Salem, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing by walking into the mailroom of Guilford Lake Estates, Spillway Road, Lisbon.

A pretrial was set June 5 for Clinton Scott, 47, Union Street, Columbiana, charged with driving under suspension and obstructing official business. When police approached him in Columbiana on July 25, 2024 about an active warrant, he allegedly became argumentative and ignored commands to place his hands behind his back.

A motions hearing was set May 19 for Bradley Reeder, 42, West Lincoln Way, Lisbon, charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and failure to display valid sticker. During a traffic stop on Dec. 28, 2024 in Columbiana County, he allegedly possessed a clear baggy containing a white substance that tested positive as methamphetamine.

A pretrial was set June 30 for Tyler Bartley, 28, New Brighton, Pa., charged with drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a crack pipe sticking out of his shoe on March 29 in Wellsville.

Jay Mays, 65, Englewood, Fla., was fined $300 for improper turn and disorderly conduct amended from resisting arrest, with a charge of obstructing official business dismissed. Fines and costs were ordered taken out of the bond. Mays got out of his vehicle and started walking toward the police cruiser in St. Clair Township during a traffic stop on Oct. 1, 2024 and disobeyed orders to get back inside his vehicle, posturing in an aggressive manner and then resisting arrest.

A pretrial was set June 12 for Scott Jones, 44, Alliance, charged with criminal damaging for allegedly using a sharpie to drawing male sexual organs on the outside business windows at State Street Tattoo in Salem on April 4.

A pretrial was set April 24 for Robert Altamirano, 35, Hillcrest Road, Wellsville, charged with criminal damaging for allegedly damaging a security camera and vehicle windshield in Wellsville on March 27

A pretrial was set June 3 for James McVay, 41, Monroe Avenue, Salem, charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly being voluntarily intoxicated on April 6 in Salem and running from police

Terry Lee Davis, 56, Westfield Road, East Liverpool, was fined $550 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for reasonable control and physical control amended from operating a vehicle impaired. His driver’s license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted.

A pretrial was set June 10 for John Scragglier, 46, West Main Street, New Waterford, charged with driving under suspension.

A pretrial was set April 28 for Denver Soukup, 43, West Wilson Street, Salem, charged with driving under suspension.

A charge of driving under suspension against Jesse Sands, 34, 18th Street Heights, Wellsville, was dismissed.

Anastasia Schueller, 23, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was fined $50 for tinted glass, with a charge of driving under suspension dismissed.

Lacie Chludzinski, 20, Walnut Street, Rogers, was fined $200 for no license amended from driving in violation of driving restriction and reasonable control.

Joseph Jackson IV, 27, Youngstown, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and expired registration.

Cadence Lickwar, 23, Warren, was fined $150 for an equipment violation amended from speeding.

Lee Thomas, 59, Uniontown, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and expired plate.

Joshua Corvino, 39, Taylor Avenue, New Waterford, was fined $150 for forfeiture and failure to yield.
