Court News
LISBON — A Youngstown man pleaded guilty Friday to a lesser offense of possession of cocaine, a second-degree felony, with sentencing set for May 19.
Antwane McMeans, 25, appeared before Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton for what was scheduled as a status hearing, but changed into a plea hearing. He was accompanied by his defense attorney, Chris Amato.
The prosecution was represented by county Assistant Prosecutor Alec Beech.
McMeans was originally indicted for first-degree felony counts of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, each with a specification for forfeiture of money from a drug case, for allegedly possessing and preparing for sale an amount of cocaine exceeding 27 grams, but less than 100 grams on Aug. 11, 2022. He also possessed $250.
The plea included the forfeiture specification. The trafficking charge will be dismissed.
