LISBON -- A Wellsville man charged with multiple counts related to a 2023 accident which injured a woman and her three grandchildren recently entered guilty pleas as part of a felony plea agreement.
Thomas Trevor, 72, Fife Coal Road, appeared in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court where he pleaded guilty to two counts each of vehicular assault, a fourth-degree felony, and aggravated vehicular assault, a third-degree felony, along with a misdemeanor of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of both.
Sentencing was set for April 18.
An additional OVI and two counts each of aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault are expected to be dismissed.
According to the plea agreement, the prosecution is expected to recommend a net sentence of six years in prison.
The charges against Trevor all stemmed from the Feb. 14, 2023 traffic crash that occurred on Fife Coal Road in Yellow Creek Township. According to a previous published report about the accident handled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Chevy Silverado driven by Trevor traveled left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Sally Lykens, Salineville, injuring Lykens and her three grandchildren who were passengers, ages 1, 3 and 5 years old at the time. Trevor was also injured.
A civil lawsuit filed against Trevor by Lykens was settled last year.
Also in Common Pleas Court:
-- Juston Buskirk, 46, West Martin Street, East Palestine, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felony theft and fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine, with sentencing set for April 17. He was accused of stealing $6,878 from Norfolk Southern from Feb. 5, 2023 to Feb. 22, 2023 with alleged false claims related to the East Palestine train derailment. The drug charge stemmed from his possession of cocaine on Nov. 15, 2022.
