LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against William McFarland Jr., 33, Lisbon Road, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony having weapons while under disability for having a 9mm pistol in his possession on Jan. 26 in Salem when he was prohibited from having a weapon due to a previous felony conviction.
A preliminary hearing was set March 3 for Darren Vernon, 61, Hawley Avenue, Salem, charged with fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property for allegedly pawning jewelry stolen from a Salem residence and valued at $1,500 on Dec. 19, 2024.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Feb. 10 for Bryan Dilling, 52, Franklin Avenue, Salem, charged with third-degree felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanors of obstructing official business, failure to comply and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. During a traffic stop in Columbiana on Jan. 17, Dilling allegedly refused to comply with police commands and kept reaching around the vehicle and not showing his hands, allegedly placing methamphetamine pipe and tore open a bag that contained suspected methamphetamine. He allegedly had the pipe and several bags of suspected methamphetamine. On Jan. 19 in Perry Township, Dilling was allegedly told to leave Dollar General and told police he needed to find his friend and then left. Officers later learned another agency had charges on him. An officer following footprints behind several businesses looking for him.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Feb. 10 for David Carll Simmons, 35, Kingsville, charged with fourth-degree felony promoting prostitution and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia for a sex-for-hire incident in East Palestine on Feb. 2 when he allegedly drove another person to the meeting location for the sex acts. He had a loaded handgun in his vehicle and paraphernalia for snorting methamphetamine and suspected methamphetamine.
A pretrial was set April 22 for William Roldan, 46, Gobles, Mich., charged with possessing criminal tools and soliciting for allegedly posting an ad on a known prostitution website offering sex for hire and arranging for sexual activity in exchange for money with an undercover agent who answered the ad, then had another man drive him to the location in East Palestine for the meeting on Feb. 2.
Aaron Tucker, 49, Guy Road, Lisbon, was fined $1,000 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 166 days suspended and credit for seven days served, leaving a balance of seven days still to serve in jail for misdemeanors of assault and criminal damaging amended from first-degree felony aggravated burglary and fourth-degree felony felonious assault plus additional misdemeanors of aggravated trespass and criminal damaging. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Tucker allegedly broke the front driver side window of a woman’s vehicle in Washington Township on Oct. 26, 2024 before breaking through the main door of the residence, shattering the glass and causing injury to the woman.
Charges of fourth-degree felony aggravated menacing and misdemeanor domestic violence were dismissed against Rusty Ray Altman, 52, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, at the request of the prosecutor without prejudice due to the victim being unavailable. The costs were taxed to the state. Altman was charged for allegedly threatening a woman and her son during a phone conversation on Jan. 6 in the Rogers area, making threats of violence with a knife and firearm.
A pretrial was set Feb. 24 for Shane Higley, 47, Fifth Street, Wellsville, charged with domestic violence for allegedly pushing a woman out of a bedroom during an argument, shutting the door and locking it on her foot, then opening the door and leaving on May 18, 2024 in Wellsville.
A status conference hearing was set April 7 and a jury trial was set April 16 for Patricia Craven, 44, West Martin Street, East Palestine, charged with endangering children for allegedly directing a juvenile to punch another juvenile during an incident Aug. 25, 2024 in Columbiana.
A pretrial was set Feb. 20 for Wilbert Faulk, 65, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, charged with violation of a protection order for allegedly being with a protected person while going through a dumpster in East Liverpool on Feb. 1.
A pretrial was set April 24 for Thomas J. Panek, 57, Atwater, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct from an undercover agent for an agreed upon price of $140, then traveling to Salem on Jan. 31, 2024 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.
A pretrial was set Feb. 24 for Joseph Rugar, 59, Cameron Road, Wellsville, charged with violation a protection order for allegedly calling a woman who had a protection order against him multiple times from the county jail on Jan. 26.
John Lee Tafe, 30, Bayard Road, Homeworth, was fined $150 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 28 days suspended and credit for two days served, for disorderly conduct amended from domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Tafe was accused of brandishing a firearm, loading it, and telling a woman they were going to play Russian Roulette on Oct. 13, 2024 in Homeworth, making her believe he was going to cause physical harm to her, himself or both.
Probation violation hearings were set Feb. 20 for James Choate, 33, Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, for 2023 and 2024 cases involving violating a protection order, criminal damaging and domestic violence
Todd Ritchie, 47, North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, was fined $300 and sentenced to seven days in jail, with credit for seven days served, for obstructing official business, possessing drug abuse instruments and resisting arrest for fleeing from a camper into a hay field when deputies arrived on Oct. 4, 2024 to take him into custody on an active arrest warrant. He failed to follow several commands to stop and surrendered after being given several K-9 warnings after a lengthy foot pursuit. A check of the camper revealed several hypodermic syringes next to suspected methamphetamine.
Donavain Casey, 19, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, was fined $900 and sentenced to 120 days in jail, with credit for one day served, leaving a balance of 119 days still to serve in jail for receiving stolen property, possession of drug abuse instruments and two counts of theft. One theft was on Nov. 13, 2024 and one was on Nov. 14, 2024 when he stole a water bong heater from a Salem residence and a hat and two packs of muffins from a store on South Broadway in Salem and possessed a drug abuse instrument.
Karl Boyd, 42, Sunset Boulevard, Wellsville, was fined $250 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for theft. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to stay out of the Calcutta Walmart. Boyd failed to scan and pay for 15 items totaling $92.01 on Oct. 16, 2024 at the Calcutta Walmart.
A pretrial was set Feb. 10 for Susan Pritt, 41, Haywood Street, East Liverpool, charged with theft and criminal trespass for allegedly walking into the Calcutta Walmart on Dec. 29, 2024 with no possessions, selecting an ice maker inside the store, attempting to return it at customer service, then leaving the store with it when she was denied the return. The ice maker was valued at $249. She had been trespassed from the store in 2020 for theft and wasn’t supposed to enter.
A passing bad checks charge was dismissed against Angelo Magnone, 37, Steubenville, who stipulated to probable cause and was ordered to pay costs. Magnone wrote a bad check to the East Liverpool Income Tax Department on June 30, 2022 for $50.40.
A pretrial was set March 27 for Allen Vancooney, 29, South Union Avenue, Salem, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing at a Salem property on Feb. 2 after being trespassed from the residence earlier in the day.
A pretrial was set March 27 for Jonathan White, 40, Wick Street, Salineville, possession of drug abuse instrument for allegedly having a loaded syringe in the vehicle behind the driver seat during a traffic stop on Aug. 31, 2022.
A pretrial was set April 15 for Melissa Miles, 40, Johnson Road, Lisbon, charged with drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a bag with a cut plastic straw with residue, pills and baggies with residue during a traffic stop on Jan. 13 in St. Clair Township.
Stacy Love, 46, state Route 164, was fined $250 for illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to display valid sticker for possessing a fake sharpie with white residue inside and a digital scale during a traffic stop on Sept. 27, 2024 in Columbiana.
A pretrial was set March 24 for Lucas Kroesen, 33, Fredricktown Clarkson Road, Negley, charged with weapons while intoxicated, operating a vehicle impaired first offense, OVI breath first offense and failure to yield for allegedly possessing a loaded handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop in East Liverpool.
Colby Cooper, 22, Schneider Road, Hanoverton, was fined $875 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI. Another OVI charge was dismissed and Cooper was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.
A status conference hearing was set April 28 and a court trial was set May 5 for Jonathan Thompson, 30, South Lincoln Avenue, Lisbon, charged with OVI first offense, OVI breath first offense, and left of center.
Dorian Recktenwalt, 36, Canton, was fined $230 for driving under suspension, speeding and no seat belt.
Hector Colon, 28, Canfield, was fined $300 for driving under suspension.
