LISBON — A woman accused of soliciting others to commit felonious assault in 2023 was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit for one day served.

Christine Bailey, 65, Northside Avenue, East Liverpool, appeared recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for sentencing for the lesser-included offense of attempted felonious assault, a third-degree felony. She was originally charged with complicity in the commission of an offense, a second-degree felony.

She was also ordered to pay restitution of $1,130.

Bailey solicited or procured others to commit felonious assault on July 15, 2023. According to county Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino, the case stemmed from a dispute over a fence.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Tarah Desatnik, 40, Middle Street, Homeworth, was placed under community control for three years and ordered to spend up to six months at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center for misdemeanor endangering children and fourth-degree felony vehicular assault amended from third-degree felony aggravated vehicular assault. Two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be dismissed. The charges all stemmed from an incident July 28, 2022 when she was accused of causing serious physical harm to a child while operating a Chevy Equinox. Her driving privileges were suspended for five years.

— Shawn Peterson, 39, Hammondsville, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for drug charges from two separate indictments and a fifth-degree felony charge of receiving stolen property from prosecutor’s information. Besides the new charge for receiving stolen property, other charges included third-degree felonies of aggravated trafficking in drugs and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs and fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine, along with specifications for forfeiture of money from a drug case. Another charge of trafficking in drugs was dismissed. Peterson prepared for sale and possessed methamphetamine in an amount equal or greater than bulk but less than five times bulk on March 20, 2023 and possessed the same amount of methamphetamine plus some cocaine on Dec. 16, 2022. He was ordered to forfeit amounts of $1,648 and $10,300. He also received three mandatory fines of $5,000 each and his driver’s license was suspended for five years. The receiving stolen property charge stemmed from an incident Aug. 5, 2023.

— Robert Simms, 33, Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for three years after pleading guilty to domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, with credit for six days served in jail. A fourth-degree felony charge of strangulation was dismissed. Simms attempted to cause physical harm to a woman on May 22, 2024.

— Cheyenne Sage, 26, Orchard Grove, East Liverpool was ordered to serve 180 days in the county jail, with credit for 78 days served, leaving a balance of 102 days still to serve in jail for violating her probation for falsification, a misdemeanor lesser-included offense, for her part in an incident of child endangering for making false statements on March 28, 2023. She was originally charged with obstructing official business.

— Mandy Hale, 43, Canton, was placed under community control for two years for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on March 18, 2024.

— Katherine Harpold, 22, Spring Grove Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for three years, with credit for 15 days served in jail, for third-degree felony endangering children. A second count of endangering children was dismissed. Harpold was accused of creating a risk of harm to a 2-month-old child on Sept. 29, 2022.

— Hayden Cope, 30, Kirk Road, Columbiana, was placed on an intervention plan for 18 months after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, with a forfeiture specification for money from a drug case. He was ordered to forfeit $102. Cope possessed the $102 and fentanyl on Aug. 4, 2023.

— Ronni Delguzzo, 30, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, was ordered to spend 365 days in the county jail, with credit for 280 days already served, leaving a balance of 85 days still to serve for probation violations for aggravated possession of drugs and possession of LSD, both fifth-degree felonies. Delguzzo’s probation was revoked. Delguzzo possessed methamphetamine and LSD on March 10, 2021.

Grand Jury

LISBON — A Cleveland man accused of drug trafficking was served Wednesday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.

Davante Jackson, also known as T.R. or TR, was charged with second-degree felonies of trafficking in fentanyl-related compound and possession of fentanyl-related compound, along with fifth-degree felonies of trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs and third-degree felony tampering with evidence.

The indictment alleged that Jackson prepared for sale and possessed fentanyl in an amount equal or greater than 10 grams but less than 20 grams, prepared for sale and possessed Xylazine and tampered with evidence on Feb. 2, 2024.

Also served with secret indictments were:

— Justin Moffett, 43, East Fourth Street, Salem, fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property and fifth-degree felony forgery for allegedly having a 2002 Chrysler Sebring belonging to Robert Huggins on Aug. 21, 2021 and also forging a certificate of title.

— Joshua Gallimore, 37, East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, fifth-degree felony possession of fentanyl-related compound and misdemeanor possession of drugs for allegedly possessing Xylazine and fentanyl on July 22, 2024.

— Derrick Faulkner, 40, West Perry Street, Salem, fifth-degree felony nonsupport of dependents for allegedly failing to pay child support from Dec. 11, 2022 to Dec. 8, 2024.

— Chad Shillingburg, 51, Mogadore, third-degree felony theft from a person in a protected class for allegedly stealing $12,000 from an elderly person on Oct. 3, 2023 through a bank check.

— James Poole, 41, East Third Street, Salem, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly possessing amphetamine on March 7, 2024.

— Kelly Harold-Hall, 51, East Third Street, Salem, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly possessing amphetamine on March 7, 2024.

Municipal

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, contractor John Bartos III, 42, Boardman, was fined $250 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for theft for accepting a $3,000 deposit for new doors to be put into a Unity Township residence and then not doing the work or delivering the door or giving a refund on Oct. 20, 2023. Bartos already made restitution to the victim. This case was just one of several in Columbiana County and other counties filed as a result of Bartos not completing work for customers.

A case against Phillip Devine, 34, Monroe Avenue, Salem, was bound over to the county grand jury for strangulation and domestic violence, both fourth-degree felonies, for Devine allegedly becoming violent, grasping a woman on either side of the base of the neck, and forcefully squeezing and shaking her, leaving abrasions on her neck on Dec. 14, 2024 in Salem.

Katie Marie Girting, 34, New Brighton, Pa., was fined $150 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 29 days suspended and credit for one day served for domestic violence. She was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Girting was accused of striking a man in the face at East Palestine Park on July 4, 2023.

An assault charge was dismissed against Brandy Pinkerton, 39, Idaho Avenue, East Liverpool, due to the alleged victim failing to appear on multiple occasions. Pinkerton was accused of allegedly pepper spraying another woman in the face after starting a fight during a Halloween party on Oct. 28, 2023 in East Liverpool.

A pretrial was set April 14 for Brian Pence, 36, Berlin Center, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $200, then arriving in East Palestine on Jan. 15 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A pretrial was set April 14 for Michael Allen Petty, 43, Akron, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $80 from an undercover agent, then driving to Salem on Jan. 15 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

Robert D. Hazel, 39, Tallmadge, was fined $750 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 89 days suspended and credit for one day served for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and a prostitution prevention course. Hazel was accused of requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $60 from an undercover agent and then traveling to Salem for the meeting on July 19, 2024 with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A disposition hearing was set March 27 for Jamie Tice Jr., 24, Malone Road, Salineville, charged with inducing panic, criminal endangerment, drug paraphernalia and two counts of theft. Tice was accused of starting a fire in a closet at the Columbiana County jail on April 5, 2024, but said it was unintentional and that he was trying to smoke some coffee in the microwave. On April 24, 2024, he allegedly failed to scan and pay for 17 items valued at $254 at the Calcutta Walmart and also possessed a cut straw with white powder, a glass pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine and a bag containing a clear rock substance. On Aug. 30, 2024, he allegedly stole 22 vapes from Barnetts Market in Salem.

Larry Warner Sr., 64, last known address North Madison Avenue, Salem, was fined $750 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for receiving stolen property, two counts driving under suspension, and single counts of failure to reinstate, white lights to the rear and expired license. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Warner was accused of selling another man’s car rims on social media on May 29, 2024 in Salem.

Lindsey Price, 36, Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, was fined $250 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for theft. She was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and to have no contact with the Calcutta Walmart. Price failed to scan and pay for 18 items valued at $114 at the Calcutta Walmart on Aug. 14, 2024.

Jesse McRobie, 52, Carrollton, was fined $50 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for theft. She was ordered to have no contact with Smith Oil in Lisbon. McRobie was accused of taking a dragon figurine, two candy bars and two to three packs of mystical fire flame color and leaving Smith Oil in Lisbon without paying for the items on Aug. 6, 2024.

Vada Browning, 65, U.S. Route 62, Alliance, was fined $925 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, with three days still to serve in jail for operating a vehicle impaired and reasonable control. Another OVI charge was dismissed. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year and she was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

A pretrial was set March 31 for Arthur Reynolds, 53, Camelot Drive, Columbiana, charged with OVI first offense and marked lanes.

Lewis Vranesevich Jr., 46, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, was fined $250 for no valid license and unauthorized plate.

Mary Kiehl, 40, state Route 558, Leetonia, was fined $400 for expired license, unauthorized plate and driving under suspension.

Richard Martin, 58, Lincoln Avenue, Wellsville, was fined $150 for an equipment violation amended from improper passing.

Victoria Mayer, 23, state Route 164, Lisbon, was fined $75 for reasonable control.

Charges of failure to stop after an accident and marked lanes were dismissed against Joseph Adams, 60, Sturgis Avenue, East Liverpool.

Jacelyn Bussell, 38, Royal Birkdale Drive, Columbiana, was fined $75 for reasonable control.

Jon Affeltranger, 33, Aliquippa, Pa., was fined $125 for expired registration and reasonable control.

Toni Empfield, 32, 10th Street, Wellsville, was fined $225 for driving under suspension and reasonable control.
