LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 6 for an East Liverpool man facing two felony charges after allegedly strangling a female at his residence on Jan. 28. Jon Tay Johnson, 30 is also charged with obstructing official business. Johnson allegedly pushed a female down the steps, before placing his hands around her neck and choking her at his Laura Avenue home. Injuries to her knees were visible to officers. Johnson allegedly attempted to flee from the home, ignoring lawful commands from the officers during the investigation.
A preliminary hearing was set for Albert McVay, 61,Trinity Church Road, Lisbon, charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony. McVay allegedly broke into a Conex trailer on Oct. 30 in Salineville. Witnesses reportedly saw McVay pushing the stolen property on West Main Street.
Christopher Price, 41, Mogadore, was fined $250 for theft and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 87 suspended, two years of probation and 40 hours of community service. Price was viewed on security surveillance leaving Save-A-Lot without paying for two cans of soda on Nov. 29, 2023.
Adam Goff, Eva Street, 40, Weirton, was fined $250 and sentenced to three days in jail for criminal damaging. Goff vandalized a car on Ogden Street in East Liverpool on Sept. 13, breaking out all of the windows and denting the hood and roof.
Augustina Newman, 51, Cleveland, was fined $775 and sentenced to 45 days in jail for theft, attempted possession of drugs and OVI. She was viewed on video putting merchandise in her purse at the East Liverpool Dollar General on Dec. 11 and a warrant for her arrest was issued. Newman was later arrested following a traffic stop on state Route 11 in Fairfield Township on Jan. 10. An illegal substance was found in her vehicle during that stop.
Christian Pilares, 40, Knox School Road, Homeworth, was fined $250 and sentenced 30 days in jail with 29 suspended and credit for one day served, two years probation and 40 hours of community service for disorderly conduct, amended from domestic violence. Pilares threatened a juvenile in the home with physical harm.
Anna Baker, 37, Clearwater, Florida, was fined $900 and sentenced to two days in jail for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Baker was observed walking visibly intoxicated on East Taggart Street in East Palestine on June 8. Baker refused to identify herself. Baker stated she was walking home. When officers told Baker they could not leave her in public intoxicated, she refused to give information as to where she was headed. Officers then placed Baker under arrest and she pulled away from them, resisting.
A pretrial hearing was set April 24 for Jeremy Cremeans, 39, Rauch Road, East Palestine, charged with theft. Cremeans allegedly stole a cell phone charger from a business store on South Market on Oct. 23, 2020.
Alex Calel, 22, North Lundy Avenue, Salem, was fined $1,075 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 170 suspended and credit for one day served, two years probation and 40 hours of community service for OVI and driving under suspension.
Catrina Crump, 18, Hubbard was fined $150 for equipment violation amended from speed.
Devontae McKinney, Youngstown, was fined $100 for driving under suspension and no turn signal.
Joseph McCallister, 43, Speidel Rod, East Rochester, was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 suspended and credit for two days served, two years probation and 20 hours of community service for menacing, amended from domestic violence. McCallister attempted to strike a man on June 16 at a residence on Wilbert Avenue in East Liverpool.
April House, 50, state Route 45, Lisbon, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and failure to move left.
Tammy Reidy, 53, Bacon Avenue, East Palestine, was fined $925 dollars for physical control amended from OVI. Reidy was also sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 suspended, two years probation and 40 hours of community service.
A pretrial hearing was set April 22 for 29, Christopher Russell, Etruria Street, East Liverpool, charged with reasonable control and failure to stop after an accident.
A pretrial hearing was set April 7 for Shawn Haynes, 40, Maple Street, Lisbon, charged with obstructing official business. Haynes allegedly prevented officers from entering a residence on Chestnut Street in Lisbon on Oct. 23.
Marcus Ford, 27, West Main Street, Salinville, was fined $150 for authorized use of plates and driving under suspension
A pretrial hearing was set April 21 for Sukhwinder Singh, 43, Poland, charged with reasonable control.

LISBON — Arraignment for an East Liverpool man charged with four counts of first-degree felony rape was continued, with no new date set yet.
Brett L. Thompson, 19, Dairy Lane, was supposed to appear Thursday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, but his defense attorney Edward Hartwig asked for a continuance due to a scheduling conflict. Thompson is also represented by defense attorney Joseph Ohlin.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant Attorney General William Walton due to a conflict for the county prosecutor’s office. The case was assigned to Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton.
According to the indictment, Thompson allegedly compelled a woman to submit by force or threat of force to sexual conduct from Oct. 1, 2023 to Oct. 2, 2023, with each count representing a different form of sexual conduct.
Bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety, with Thompson ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Also in Common Pleas Court:
— James Chico Swearengen, 44, Steubenville, pleaded guilty to lesser offenses of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both second-degree felonies which were originally first-degree felonies, with specifications for forfeiture of money in a drug case. Sentencing was set for March 28. He was accused of preparing for sale and possessing cocaine in an amount equal or greater than 20 grams, but less that 27 grams, along with possessing $1,691 cash, on June 11, 2022. Originally the amount was alleged to be equal or greater than 27 grams but less than 100 grams.

LISBON — An East Liverpool man accused of allegedly soliciting someone to bring drugs to the Columbiana County jail in 2021 was served Wednesday with two separate secret indictments.
Christopher Price, 41, West Ninth Street, was charged with complicity in the commission of an offense, a third-degree felony, in one indictment from 2023 and nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, in an indictment from 2022.
Price allegedly solicited another person to commit illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a detention facility, allegedly making calls from the county jail on Nov. 21, 2021 to solicit someone to bring drugs to the lockup.
He also allegedly failed to pay child support from May 3, 2020 to May 1, 2022 for one child.
Also served with secret indictments were:
— Michael Heverly, 40, Depot Road, Salem, second-degree felony possession of a fentanyl-related compound, three counts of fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs, two counts of fifth-degree felony possession of drugs, all with specifications for forfeiture of money from a drug case, third-degree felony having weapons while under disability and misdemeanor defacing identification marks of a firearm. On Jan. 31, 2024, he allegedly possessed fentanyl in an amount equal or greater than 10 grams, but less than 20 grams, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, alprazolam and $91. He also allegedly possessed a gun when he was prohibited from having one due to a previous conviction and identification marks on the gun were defaced. On May 26, 2024, he allegedly possessed methamphetamine, buprenorphine and $342.
— Wiley Bates, 41, East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly stealing a vehicle on March 15, 2024.
— Marcus Allen Ford, 27, West Main Street, Salineville, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on June 20, 2024.
— Patrick Gill, 35, 15th Street, Wellsville, possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing cocaine on May 9, 2023.
— Benny Miley, 35, Cleveland, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine, both fifth-degree felonies, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine and cocaine on Oct. 14, 2023.
