LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set Jan. 6 for Joseph DeSarro II, 31, Duke Vodrey Road, East Liverpool, charged with third-degree felonies of illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto grounds of a detention facility or of an institution and tampering with evidence for allegedly tampering with a plastic bag and shoving it down his pants after being placed in a patrol car following a traffic stop in East Liverpool on Dec. 31 when he was a passenger.
When a state trooper initially approached the vehicle, he was in the passenger seat with his pants and boxers down and was asked to exit the vehicle and continuously reached for his pants. While in the dressing room at the Columbiana County jail, he was allegedly found to be in possession of multiple illegal narcotics and allegedly admitted to the illegal narcotics being crack, cocaine and fentanyl.
A pretrial was set Jan. 13 for Kassie Haines, 27, East Sixth Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence for allegedly throwing a shelf at a male victim, hitting him and causing injury to his right cheek bone after an argument on Dec. 31 in Salem.
A pretrial was set Jan. 9 for Heather Chiconella, 57, Logan Street, East Liverpool, charged with violation of a protection order for allegedly going to a property in East Liverpool where a protected person was present who had a protection order against her on Dec. 30.
A pretrial was set March 11 for Julian Richard Smith, 37, Tarentum, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $140, traveling to East Palestine on Dec. 31 for the meeting with the cell phone used to make the arrangements and the $140.
A pretrial was set March 4 for Christian Henry, 21, Salem Unity Road, Salem, charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing glass smoking pipes with white residue, a digital scale with white powder residue on it and a receipt book with different amounts during a traffic stop on May 2, 2024 in Fairfield Township. The items were found during an administrative vehicle inventory.
A sentencing hearing was set Jan. 13 for Alexis Cusick, 33, West Main Street, New Waterford, who pleaded no contest and was found guilty of criminal trespass. Cusick had trespassed on a woman’s property and refused to leave after being asked several times on Dec. 29 in New Waterford.
A pretrial was set Jan. 13 for Austin Angeli, 37, Allen Road, Salem, charged with obstructing official business, operating a vehicle impaired first offense, failure to stop after an accident and traffic control devices. Angeli allegedly left the scene of an accident at West State Street and the state Route 34/U.S. Route 62 bypass in Perry Township on Dec. 28 and was followed to Allen Road where he left the vehicle, fleeing behind his residence. He then allegedly took off running into the woods and was pepper sprayed after a police officer gave commands.
