Grand Jury

LISBON — Joseph Jolly 36, Dunn Road, who had previously been convicted of domestic violence secretly, was indicted recently by the Columbiana County Grand Jury on charges of felony-four domestic violence and felony-for strangulation. According to the indictment Jolly allegedly knowingly caused harm to a household member by strangulation on Aug. 29.

Also served secret indictments were:

— Jonathan Vinkler, 48, Petersburg, charged with conveying or attempting to convey an drug of abuse on the grounds of a county correctional facility, a felony three, on Oct. 20, 2023 and felony-five aggravated possession of drugs.

— Steven Watters, 46, Depot Road Salem, charged with fifth-degree felony failure to stop after an accident. Watters allegedly did not stop after being involved in a crash on May 25.

— Christina Springer, 30, Hibbetts Mills Road charged with possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, for knowingly possessing cocaine on April 18, 2023.

— Jackie Barker, 30 Saline Street, Irondale, charged with felony-five aggravated possession of drugs for allegedly possessing amphetamine on April 18, 2023.

— Andrea Brown 47, Canton, charged with possession of a fentanyl related compound, a fifth-degree felony on Oct.2, 2023.

Court News

LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court recently, a Lisbon man was sentenced to 12 months in a state correctional institution after violating terms of both intervention and community control. Thomas May Jr., 38, state Route 154, had previously pleaded guilty to fourth-degree felony possession of LSD and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. May possessed methamphetamine and LSD on Sept. 10, 2020 and methamphetamine on July 6, 2021.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Joni McDole, 31, Maplewood Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to two years of community control and six months in the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center for possession of cocaine, a felony five for possessing cocaine on June 16, 2022.

— Michael Hover, 33, East Third Street, Salem, was sentenced to 75 days in the county jail for fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property.

— Amanda Mead, 45, East Main Street, East Palestine, was sentenced to three years of intervention for fourth-degree felony illegal use of supplemental assistance program benefits or WIC program benefits for allegedly illegally using the benefits from July 1, 2022 to Oct. 31, 2022.

— Anthony Baker, 39, Ravenna, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for an amended offense of attempted felonious assault, a third-degree felony. Baker was originally charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and first-degree felony aggravated burglary after he was accused of attempting to harm or harming another man by means of a knife on May 29, 2023. The aggravated burglary charge was being dismissed.
