Grand Jury

LISBON — Two drug defendants were served recently with secret indictments issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.

James Tinsley, 43, Campbell, was charged with trafficking in fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly offering or preparing to sell fentanyl on Jan. 19, 2023.

Blake Harkleroad, 20, Main Street, Leetonia, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, for allegedly possessing psilocyn in an amount equal or greater than bulk, but less than five times bulk on Nov. 3, 2023.

LISBON — Two men recently indicted for rape and other sexual assault charges entered not guilty pleas during arraignment in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.

Brandon Seddon, 32, Barclay Avenue, Salem, was charged with first-degree felony rape, second-degree felony sexual battery and two counts of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct or contact with a child who was 8 years old when the assaults began during the time frame from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2021.

His bond of $75,000 cash or surety was continued and he was released after signing a surety bond. A pretrial in his case is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 16.

Joseph A. Goss, 41, Hollywood Avenue, was charged with three counts of first-degree felony rape, a single count of second-degree felony sexual battery and two counts of third-degree felony gross sexual imposition.

According to the indictment, Goss allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a child 11 to 12 years old and had sexual contact with the child from Jan. 1, 2022 to March 6, 2024.

His bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety and was continued. He remains in custody at the county jail. A scheduling conference was set for 8:45 a.m. Aug. 15 in his case.

Municipal

LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set Aug. 12 for Daniel J. Hosek, 51, Munroe Falls, charged with third-degree felony compelling prostitution, fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and fifth-degree felonies of importuning and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $160 from a female he believed to be 15 years old, but was an officer posing as a minor via a telecommunications device, then drove to Salem on Aug. 1 for the meeting, with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

William T. Jones, 41, Akron, was fined $750 and sentenced to 60 days in jail, with 59 days suspended and credit for one day served, for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and a prostitution prevention online course. Jones was accused of requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $100 from an undercover agent via a telecommunications device, then traveling to Salem on Aug. 1 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A pretrial was set Nov. 7 for Rodney Carter, 42, Youngstown, charged with assault for allegedly striking the victim multiple times in the face/head area at the Columbiana County Jail, County Home Road, Lisbon on July 23.

A pretrial was set Nov. 7 for Timothy Gattis, 43, Canton, charged with operating a vehicle impaired first offense and OVI breath first offense.

A pretrial was set Nov. 7 for Debra Ehrhart, 70, Milbourne Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with traffic control devices.

Chelsi Solomon, 28, East Taggart Street, East Palestine, was fined $100 for speeding.
