LISBON — A man who injured three Salem police officers and an EMT during a fight July 30, 2023 in Salem was ordered to prison for at least five years, with the possibility of an additional two years if prison officials feel it’s necessary.
Joshua Jesiolowski, 32, Alliance, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Scott Washam for felonious assault, a first-degree felony, three counts of fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
He entered a guilty plea to the charges earlier this year.
Jesiolowski was sentenced to 12 months for the assault charges plus four to six years for the felonious assault bringing the total to five to seven years. The 180-day term for resisting arrest was ordered to be served at the same time. He received credit for 275 days already served in jail. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.
The felonious assault resulted from Jesiolowski causing serious physical harm to a Salem police sergeant who ended up hospitalized at the time because of the defendant’s violent behavior and actions.
The three assaults on peace officers resulted from Jesiolowski striking a Salem police officer in the face while impaired by drugs, causing physical harm and a cut to the face, along with striking an EMT in the head in the back of an ambulance and causing serious physical harm to another Salem police officer by kicking him and fighting him, injuring his back and causing him to be hospitalized.
