LISBON — An East Liverpool man who caused extensive damage to the bridge in Wellsville after a car crash that followed a domestic incident in the village was recently sentenced in Columbiana County Municipal Court. Ronald Sluss, 45, Martin Street, was fined $2,050 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 suspended and credit for three days served for two counts of domestic violence, driving under suspension, reckless operation, failure to control, failure to report an accident and criminal damaging. Sluss was also ordered to perform 20 hours of community service, placed on two years of probation and is to have no contact with the victim. Sluss hit and damaged the bridge over Yellow Creek on Wells Avenue by state Route 45 and the Wellsville Marina and then fled the scene. Before the crash, Sluss struck a woman in the stomach and the head on Jan. 28 at a Wellsville residence. According to Police Chief Ed Wilson, after leaving the scene, officers stopped Sluss and his girlfriend on state Route 7 after piecing it together and figuring it out. Sluss admitted that he hit the bridge. Officers recovered pieces from his vehicle.
A pretrial hearing was set June 17 for Derek Thompson, 29, Chester Avenue, Wellsville, charged with criminal damaging, two counts of theft and domestic violence. Thompson allegedly punched a female in the side of the head after punching the television at a residence in Wellsville around Jan. 16. In April, Thompson allegedly was witnessed on security cameras at the Giant Eagle in East Liverpool concealing four items with a value of $32.13 and leaving the store without paying. In May, Thompson allegedly shoved several down his pants at the East Liverpool Dollar Tree and left without paying. On May 29, Thompson allegedly threw a metal water bottle through a window at a home on Avondale Street in Wellsville.
Richard Austin, 34, St. George Street, East Liverpool was bound over to the grand jury on felony-four improper handling of firearms. weapons while intoxicated, OVI and reasonable control. Austin allegedly was found at the scene of a crash with a handgun in his waistband on St. Clair Avenue in East Liverpool on March 9.
A pretrial hearing was set for Aug. 27 for Neil O’Brien, 51, Steubenville, charged with engaging in prostitution, possessing criminal tools and drug paraphernalia. O’Brien allegedly responded to an undercover ad on a website and agreed to exchanging cocaine for sexual activity and traveled to East Palestine around June 2 to do so. A pretrial hearing was also set Aug. 27 for O’Brien, charged with OVI.
A pretrial hearing was set July 30 for Jay Troyer, McCracken Road, Salem, charged with menacing by stalking and telecommunications harassment. Troyer allegedly had been contacting a Salem woman through text messages and social media multiple times after she asked him to stop.
Zachary Householder, 21, Broadway Street, Wellsville, was fined $300 and sentenced to 180 days in jail suspended for violating a protection order in Washington Township on Jan. 23. He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, placed on two years probation, and have no contact with the protected party.
Mark Hayes, 58, Grandview Street, East Liverpool, was fined $50 for equipment violation, amended from speed.
Daniel Morris, McCoy Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $250 for obstructing official business and sentenced to 30 days suspended in jail and 20 hours of community service. He was also ordered to make $1,631 restitution to Premier Bank. Morris mobile deposited a check through the Premier Bank app and then cashed the check at a different bank in person on Feb. 7. McCoy lied to officers about cashing the check in person.
Jessica Jackson, Metz, Road, Columbiana, was fined $200 for drug paraphernalia. During a search of her home, several straws and rolled currency with white residue was discovered.
John Joy, 41, Sixth Street, Wellsville, was fined $500 for two counts of driving under suspension, two counts of no operator’s license, unauthorized plate and loud exhaust.
Dylan Jordan, 24, New Middleton, was fined $200 for driving under suspension.
Robert Cruz, McCracken Road, Salem, was fined $825 for OVI and driving under suspension. He was also sentenced to 180 days in jail with 160 suspended, two years probation, and 60 hours of community service.
Taylor Foster, 28, North Shady Lane, East Liverpool, was fined $150 and ordered to perform 20 hours of community service for drug paraphernalia. A baggie containing straws and white residue was discovered in Foster’s possession during a traffic stop on state Route 39 on May 24.
Nathan Grove, 48, Massillon, was fined $450 dollars and sentenced to 20 hours community service and 30 days in jail suspended for disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools amended from engaging in prostitution. Gove’s charges stem from communication with an undercover agent with Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

Nicholas Taulbee, 31, McKinley Avenue, Lisbon, was fined $925 for physical control and left of center amended from OVI. He was also sentenced to 90 days in jail with 87 suspended and credit for three days served. He was also ordered to perform 20 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 180 days.
A pretrial hearing was set Aug. 1 for David Deitz, 32, Homeworth, charged with OVI, no seatbelt and reckless operation.
A pretrial hearing was set June 13 for Leroy McEldowney, 45, Fairview Street, East Liverpool, charged with OVI 3rd offense, driving under suspension, no seatbelt, and reasonable control.
A pretrial hearing was set Aug. 1 for Allen Boyd, 54, Riley Avenue, charged with criminal damaging and assault. Boyd allegedly struck a vehicle with a baseball bat on Aug. 23 in East Liverpool and struck, kicked and threw a man to the ground during an incident on May 30 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial hearing for Regis Allgood, Vine Street, East Liverpool, charged with two counts of domestic violence. Allgood allegedly threatened harm to a female and her child at their shared residence on May 24. Allgood allegedly also spit on the female and pushed her.
