LISBON — An East Liverpool man accused in a sex for hire case was sentenced to nine months in prison for two felony counts.
Michael Cunningham, 44, Broadview Circle, East Liverpool, appeared recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to face his punishment for fourth-degree felony attempted compelling prostitution (amended from third-degree felony compelling prostitution), and fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
He was designated a Tier II sex offender requiring him to register his address with law enforcement once he’s released from prison.
Charges of possessing criminal tools, importuning and two counts disseminating matter harmful to juveniles were dismissed. Cunningham requested sexual conduct from an undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old female for a price of $80 and arrived in Salem on July 26, 2023 for the meeting.
Also in Common Pleas Court:
— Kathleen Barnes, 36, Dewey Avenue, East Liverpool, was ordered to prison for 18 months after violating her probation for two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, one a third-degree felony and one a fifth-degree felony. She received credit for 142 days served in jail. Barnes possessed methamphetamine on Nov. 7, 2020 and April 15, 2022.
— James L. Wilson, 57, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, was ordered to complete a term at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after violating the terms of his probation for nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony. He will remain under community control and receive credit for 20 days already served in jail. He was accused of failing to pay child support for one child from July 4, 2021 to July 2, 2023.
— Donald Fiore, 57, Franklin Avenue, Salem, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with credit for 90 days already served, and placed on community control for three years after pleading guilty to third-degree felony domestic violence for fighting with a woman and causing injury to her head and legs on Feb. 9.
— Todd Hawthorne, 41, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Feb. 15, 2023. The sentence was to be served at the same time as any sentence already being served by Hawthorne.
— Tyler Quimby, 26, Empire, was placed on community control or probation for three years after pleading guilty to a lesser-included offense of third-degree felony strangulation, fourth-degree felony domestic violence and four counts of endangering children, a misdemeanor. As part of his community control, he must serve a term at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center. He received credit for 106 days already served in jail and a charge of criminal damaging was dismissed. Quimby was accused of choking a woman around the neck during a domestic dispute on Jan. 1 in East Liverpool, leaving bruises and scratches around her neck. The incident also allegedly created a risk of harm to two children.
