LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary/pretrial hearing was set May 2 for David Kirby, 32, West Main Street, Washingtonville, charged with assault and resisting arrest for allegedly striking a deputy in the face with a closed fist multiple times and continuing to throw punches at his face after being taken to the ground on March 12 on Salem Unity Road, Salem Township. The deputy had been called to the property for a trespasser in the area of a pond and when he approached the person, the man identified as Kirby, allegedly became violent. He resisted by pulling out the taser barbs after being tased.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set May 2 for Troy Jones, 43, First Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with third-degree felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanor obstructing official business for allegedly attempting to dispose of cell phones that would be evidence and failing to comply with commands of officers conducting a drug search warrant on First Avenue, East Liverpool on April 23.
A pretrial was set June 20 for Jeffrey Marvin McGaffick, 62, Mentor, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $180 from an undercover agent via a telecommunications device, then driving to Salem for the meeting on April 24. The affidavit said McGaffick is a licensed attorney.
A pretrial was set July 8 for Steven Crawford, 33, Creek Road, New Waterford, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $100. He requested to meet at McDonald’s to ensure she wasn’t law enforcement and arrived April 23 at the McDonald’s in East Palestine where he was met by police.
A pretrial was set June 20 for Nicholas Allen Wright, 22, Ellwood City, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $140, then traveling to East Palestine on April 24 for the meeting.
Christopher Van Nguyen, 32, Coraopolis, Pa., was fined $750 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and a 12-hour education course. He was accused of responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $80, then arriving in East Palestine on Jan. 3 for the meeting with the cell phone used to make the arrangements.
A pretrial was set July 15 for Suzanne Keller, 41, Sycamore Street, Beloit, charged with domestic violence for being involved in a physical conflict with two other people with punches being thrown at each other’s head areas in the kitchen of a Beloit residence on April 23.

Dewayne Toothman, 41, East Fourth Street, East Liverpool, was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 18 days suspended and credit for 12 days served, for disorderly conduct, amended from assault. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to stay away from the juvenile victim. Toothman was accused of punching a juvenile several times in the legs and punching him in the face in June 2023.

A pretrial was set May 9 for Payton Wilson, 25, Wilbert Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with disorderly conduct, assault, use of unauthorized plate, temporary instruct permit required and expired license plates. Wilson was accused of causing a disturbance trying to break out windows at an East Liverpool property on Wyoming Avenue on Feb. 12 and then continuing to act disorderly when officers told her to stop what she was doing on a man’s porch. On April 7, she was accused of hitting a man during an incident on Wyoming Avenue, East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set July 11 for Leanna Howell, 36, Grant Street, East Liverpool, charged with theft for allegedly failed to pay for 65 items totaling $451 from the Calcutta Walmart on April 17.
A pretrial was set April 29 for Donna Potts, 35, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, charged with criminal trespass for allegedly being on someone else’s property without permission on Sept. 16, 2023 on Hammond School Road, Wellsville. Evidence at the scene allegedly came back with her DNA on it after testing.
A pretrial was set July 8 for Jamie Tice, 23, Malone Road, Salineville, charged with theft and drug paraphernalia for allegedly failing to scan and pay for 17 items totaling $254 at the Calcutta Walmart on April 24 and possessing a clear rock substance in a plastic bag, a pipe and cut straw with white powder residue.
Daniel McLaughlin, 37, East Clark Street, East Palestine, was fined $300 for hunting without permission on someone else’s property on Nov. 15, 2023 in Unity Township.
A pretrial was set June 25 for Lorena Cope, 58, state Route 558, Leetonia, charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension and forfeiture for allegedly possessing one snort straw and one razor blade with white residue on it during a traffic stop in Columbiana on April 23.

A disposition hearing was set June 25 for Adam Lydic, 28, South Union Avenue, Salem, for OVI second offense, OVI breath second offense and marked lanes.
A pretrial was set July 15 for Janell Jenkins, 63, Depot Road, Salem, charged with OVI first offense, OVI breath first offense ad marked lanes.

Dustin Huff, 34, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, was fined $100 for driving under suspension.
