LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Nicolas Ortiz, 24, Dover, was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony compelling prostitution and fifth-degree felonies of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, importuning and possessing criminal tools for allegedly requesting sexual conduct from an undercover agent posing online as a 15-year-old female in exchange for $100 and then driving to Salem on March 8 for the meeting.
A pretrial was set May 30 for Hannah Leisure, 42, St. George Street, East Liverpool, charged with endangering children for allegedly causing a risk to the health or safety of a 6-year-old child due to alleged conditions at the home in East Liverpool. A police affidavit said a search warrant was executed on March 13 at the residence on St. George Street where officers observed a strong ammonia smell from urine in the house, finding dog and cat feces covering the floors throughout the house and on the couch and several dead chickens in the upstairs near the bedrooms.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set March 25 for Mark Kireta, 55, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, charged with fifth-degree felony breaking and entering and misdemeanors of aggravated menacing, assault and criminal damaging. Kireta allegedly broke into a home on Chester Avenue, Wellsville and came out holding grey jogging pants with something in them. The resident found $40 and a collector power ranger action figure missing on March 17. On the same day, Kireta allegedly threatened a man and put his hands on him and began to fight in Wellsville. On March 18, he allegedly threw a brick through the other man’s window at the Wellsville residence.
A pretrial was set May 7 for Rafael Pabon, 52, Bethlehem, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $160, traveling on March 15 to East Palestine for the meeting.
A pretrial was set June 11 for Marc Richard Bunims, 56, Bethel Park, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools for allegedly responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a female in exchange for money, traveling to East Palestine on March 15 for the meeting.
A pretrial was set March 25 for Jeffery Bennett, 30, West Chestnut Street, Lisbon, charged with domestic violence for allegedly threatening serious physical harm to a woman via text messages Feb. 12 in Perry Township.
Stephen Rudy, 45, Ridgway, Pa., was fined $500 and given a 90-day suspended jail term for possessing criminal tools and a second charge of possessing criminal tools, amended from engaging in prostitution. He was fined $45 for expired temporary tag. He was permitted to buy out 30 hours community service for $300 and ordered to complete an online prostitution prevention course, which was already completed. Rudy responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $140, then drove to East Palestine for the meeting on July 30, 2023.
Cynthia Harvey, 36, Harrisburg, Pa., was fined $600 and sentenced to two days in jail, with credit for two days served, for soliciting and possessing criminal tools for advertising for sexual activity and arranging for sexual activity with an undercover agent in exchange for $280, arriving in East Palestine on Jan. 9 for the meeting.
Zackary Goncz, 36, New York, N.Y., was fined $500 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for possessing criminal tools and a second count of possessing criminal tools, amended from engaging in prostitution. Goncz was permitted to buy out 40 hours community service for $400. He was also ordered to forfeit $120 seized for the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Goncz responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged to sexual activity with a female in exchange for $120, traveling to East Palestine on Dec. 23, 2023 for the meeting.
Melissa Staats, 38, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, was fined $250 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 141 days suspended and credit for 39 days served, for domestic violence and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. She was ordered to complete 30 hours community service. Staats was accused of allegedly striking a man in the face during a domestic dispute on Feb. 4 in East Rochester. She also possessed two clear plastic bags with residue inside and a set of scales on Feb. 4.
A pretrial was set June 10 for Sean MacInnes, 30, Rubicon, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly flipping a bed while a woman was on it during a domestic March 17 in East Liverpool and grabbing her by the wrist when she was on the phone calling for help.
Sentencing was set March 25 for Michael Young, 43, Chester, W.Va., who pleaded guilty to domestic violence for striking a woman in the head during an argument March 17 in East Liverpool. Pending sentencing, bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
A pretrial was set March 28 for Dustin Martin, 37, Union, Columbiana, charged with violating a temporary protection order for allegedly contacting a protected person by phone and making threats on March 11 in Columbiana.
A pretrial was set March 25 for Anastasha Blinn, 40, Maple Street, Lisbon, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking a man on March 17 in Lisbon, causing injury.
A pretrial was set March 28 for Andy Husk, 39, Beechwood Street, East Liverpool, charged with assault for allegedly hitting a juvenile with a phone charger on March 17 in East Liverpool, causing injury.
A pretrial was set May 13 for Beau Manley, 41, Wood Street, East Palestine, charged with theft and criminal trespass for allegedly climbing into the bins at the Way Station in East Palestine to steal clothing on March 13 and 14. Police saw a video of the incident on March 15.
Amber Hutchins, 39, Riverview Street, East Liverpool, was fined $150 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for drug paraphernalia and slow speed. A charge of driving under suspension was dismissed. She was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Hutchins possessed a grinder with a blue/green powder inside it during a traffic stop on Aug. 22, 2022 in St. Clair Township.
Eric Shoemaker, 39, New Middletown, was fined $1,300 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended and credit for four days served, leaving a balance of six day to still serve, for drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and left of center. His driver’s license was suspended for two years. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Shoemaker possessed a snort straw and a baggy with white residue during a traffic stop on Aug. 19, 2023 in Columbiana. A charge of driving under suspension was dismissed.
Labrea Kisner, 29, state Route 45, Lisbon, was fined $300 and sentenced to one day in jail, with credit for one day served, for unauthorized plate and criminal damaging for damaging a motorcycle on Sept. 28, 2023 in Madison Township.
A pretrial was set March 28 for Donald Ferrebee, 69, Cain Street, East Liverpool, charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, OVI third offense, OVI refusal third offense and traffic control devices for failing to initially stop for police attempting to stop him on March 16 in Columbiana.
A pretrial was set March 25 for Jakob Bell Sr., 33, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and theft for allegedly stealing $925 from a person’s debit card after being told he could charge $5 for gas n Jan. 31 in Salem Township. On March 16 during a traffic stop in Columbiana, he allegedly possessed a suspected crack pipe.
A pretrial was set June 13 for Nicholas Martin, 33, North Howard Avenue, Salem, charged with OVI third offense, OVI breath third offense and marked lanes.
Cordelia Black, 30, Garretsville, was fined $925 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI and assured clear distance. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. A charge of possessing marijuana was dismissed.
A pretrial was set May 16 for Cody Stuvfeneger, 32, Morris Road, Lisbon, charged with driving under suspension.
A pretrial was set May 28 for Tykean Rosier, 50, Midland, Pa., charged with driving under suspension and improper/expired registration.
Zachary Westover, 25, state Route 154, Lisbon, was fined $100 for driving under suspension.
Aimee Moore, 45, Weirton, W.Va., was fined $50 for unsafe vehicle, amended from speeding.
William McCallister, 49, Somer Street, Leetonia, was fined $45 for marked lanes, with a charge of driving under suspension dismissed.
Jimmy Anderson, 33, old state Route 558, Salem, was fined $130 for no license and loud exhaust.
Clinton Scott III, 46, Wilson Street, Columbiana, was fined $150 for failure to reinstate.
Joseph Anderson, 25, Knox School Road, Alliance, was fined $45 for an equipment violation, amended from reasonable control.
