LISBON — A Youngstown resident who solicited sex for hire after a positive HIV test was sentenced to nine months in prison after entering guilty pleas to several counts recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Dominique Thomas, 35, pleaded guilty to third-degree felonies of engaging in solicitation after a positive HIV test and attempted felonious assault, fifth-degree felony possessing criminal tools and misdemeanors of engaging in prostitution and possessing drug abuse instruments. Thomas received credit for 82 days already served in jail.

Thomas was accused of soliciting a law enforcement officer posing as an adult to engage in sexual activity for hire with the knowledge that Thomas had tested positive as a carrier of a virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Thomas posted an ad on a known prostitution website, agreed to perform sexual acts in exchange for money and traveled to East Palestine on Dec. 24, 2023 for the meeting. Thomas possessed an uncapped hypodermic syringe at the time.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Zackery Young, 23, Grant Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 30 months in prison, with credit for 52 days served in jail, for burglary, a third-degree felony lesser included offense. He was originally indicted for a second-degree felony burglary charge. He was accused of committing burglary at a home on Baum Street, East Liverpool on Feb. 11, 2020.

— Justine McGee, 32, Quincy Avenue, Columbiana, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with credit for three days served, for illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of specified government facility, a third-degree felony, and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. McGee was accused of possessing methamphetamine and attempting to convey drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility on July 9, 2022.

— Joshua Rudder, 33, Birch Road, East Liverpool, was sentenced to nine months in prison after pleading guilty to illegal conveyance of a drug of abuse onto the grounds of a governmental facility, a third-degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. The term was ordered served consecutive to any sentence he’s already serving. The incident happened March 7, 2023 and involved methamphetamine.

— Jamie Nicholson, 44, Lincoln Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to nine months in prison, with credit for 16 days served in jail, for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Nicholson possessed methamphetamine on June 2, 2022.

— John P. Dunlap Jr., 40, Broadway Avenue, Wellsville, was sentenced to seven months in prison after pleading guilty to fifth-degree felonies of possession of cocaine and trafficking in fentanyl-related compound, with a forfeiture specification for money from a drug case. Charges of trafficking in fentanyl-related compound and possession of drugs were dismissed. He was ordered to forfeit $2,196. Dunlap was accused of trying to sell fentanyl on Jan. 23, 2023 and Feb. 6, 2023 and possessing cocaine and buprenorphine, along with $2,196, on Feb. 9, 2023.

— Gloria Flaherty, 49, Birch Road, East Liverpool, was ordered to serve 30 days in the county jail after being placed under community control, on probation, for theft and passing bad checks, both fifth-degree felonies. She was also ordered to make restitution of $4,500. According to the indictment, she wrote a bad check for $4,500 dated Oct. 12, 2020 and used it on Oct. 13, 2020, then on Oct. 14, 2020, she allegedly stole $4,240 from Farmers National Bank.

— Aaron Yonker, 27, Warren, was sentenced to three years community control or probation for fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He was also designated a Tier II sex offender required to register his address with the sheriff’s officer of the county where he resides. Yonker was accused of attempting sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl by making arrangements with an undercover agent posing as an adult prostitute offering her friend in exchange for $60 and an iced coffee. He drove to Salem for the meeting on Feb. 24, 2023.

— Terrance Lewis, 61, Cleveland, was placed on community control for two years after pleading guilty to breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, for trespassing at the Mainland gas station in East Liverpool on July 30, 2018. While he’s on probation, he was ordered to have no contact with Mainland gas station.

— Michael Chafins, 39, Weirton, W.Va., was placed on community control for 18 months after pleading guilty to nonsupport of dependents, a misdemeanor. He was originally charged with a felony of nonsupport. Chafins failed to pay child support for a child from Oct. 19, 2019 to Oct. 29, 2021.

— Alton Hauser Jr., 67, Aliquippa, Pa., was placed on community control for three years after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony and lesser included offense for trafficking in drugs. He received credit for 38 days served in jail. Three counts of trafficking in drugs were dismissed. Hauser had been indicted for the charges in 2006, but wasn’t taken into custody until last year. He was accused of possessing cocaine on Jan. 20, 2005.
