LISBON — A Youngstown man accused of soliciting sexual conduct from an undercover agent in a sex-for-hire sting was ordered to prison for 15 months and deemed a sexual offender.

Jerry Granberry, 44, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Scott Washam, who found him guilty during a trial to the bench of third-degree felony compelling prostitution, fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, fifth-degree felony possessing criminal tools and misdemeanor engaging in prostitution.

A charge of importuning had been dismissed at the request of the prosecution due to evidentiary issues.

He received credit for one day served in jail and was designated a Tier II sex offender, requiring him to report his address to the sheriff’s office in the county where he resides.

Granberry had been indicted on the charges in February 2023 after responding to an ad placed on a known prostitution website by an undercover Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force agent and soliciting sexual conduct from an adult female and 15-year-old female in exchange for $180. He arrived in East Palestine on Oct. 6, 2022 for the meeting with his cell phone used to make the arrangements.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Greggory Marriner, 36, Thomas Road, Lisbon, was placed on probation for three years and ordered held at the county jail until a bed becomes available at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center where he was ordered to complete the program. Marriner entered a guilty plea last month to fourth-degree felony strangulation and misdemeanors of resisting arrest, endangering children and three counts of domestic violence. Marriner was accused of strangling one victim and striking another in the head during an altercation on Dec. 1, 2023 in Lisbon, making a third victim believe she would be harmed. One of the victims was a juvenile. He also allegedly attempted to force his way out of a police cruiser and pulled away from officers during his arrest. A protection order was also put in place for him to stay away from the three victims during his probation.

— Jordan Swain, 36, Mattix Road, Lisbon, was sentenced to nine months in prison during sentencing for charges in two separate cases, including fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs, misdemeanor possession of drugs, third-degree felony having weapons under disability and misdemeanors of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and driving under financial responsibility law suspension or cancellation. He had been indicted in 2022 for possessing hydrocodone and diazepam on Sept. 10, 2021.Then he was charged in 2023 for allegedly having a firearm in his possession and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Jan. 30, 2023 in Lisbon while under felony indictment for a drug charge. He received credit for two days served in jail. He was also fined $100 for the driving under suspension charge.

— Siobhan Goodwin, 44, Alliance, was placed on probation for three years and ordered to the Eastern Ohio Correction Center until the program is successfully completed after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor possessing drug abuse instruments. She received credit for 22 days served. Goodwin possessed methamphetamine and a syringe on Aug. 10, 2021.

— Ronald Middleton Jr., 56, West Pidgeon Road, Salem, was fined $100 after pleading no contest and being found guilty of an amended charge of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was originally charged with third-degree felony possession of marijuana. A charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and specifications for forfeiture of money in a drug case were dismissed. Middleton was originally accused of possessing methamphetamine, $415 and marijuana in an amount equal to or exceeding 1,000 grams, but less than 5,000 grams on Aug. 24, 2021 during a search of his residence.

— Denise Edmond, 45, Irondale, was placed on an intervention plan for two years after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing oxycodone on June 3, 2022.

— Alex Fluharty, 33, West Main Street, Washingtonville, was placed on probation for three years and given a mandatory $5,000 fine for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, with credit for one day served in jail. Fluharty possessed psilocyn on Jan. 12, 2022 in an amount equal or greater than bulk, but less than five times bulk.

— Fred Struble IV, 25, Chain School Road, East Palestine, pleaded guilty to charges in two separate cases, including an amended charge of fourth-degree felony aggravated assault from a third-degree felony strangulation, misdemeanor domestic violence, third-degree felony failure to comply with an order or signal a police officer and misdemeanor unauthorized use of a vehicle, with sentencing set for April 26. Struble was accused of punching and scratching a woman in the face, pulling her across the floor and strangling her on Nov. 12, 2023 on Chain School Road, Unity Township. He was also accused of using a motorcycle without the owner’s consent and fleeing from police on June 1, 2023.

— Wilford Miller, 34, state Route 154, Lisbon, was referred to drug court for violating the terms of his treatment plan for possession of fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony. He was ordered to report to Meridian Healthcare for detox services. Miller possessed fentanyl on Oct 24, 2022.

— Gary Rowles, 41, Youngstown, was ordered to served 60 days in the county jail, with credit for 12 days already served, after violating his probation for three counts of possession of drugs, one a fifth-degree felony and two misdemeanor counts. The case dated back to 2018. He possessed methamphetamine, clonazepam and lorazepam on Oct. 1, 2017.

— Thomas Akers, 34, St. George Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for forth-degree felony attempted tampering with evidence, which is a lesser offense of third-degree felony tampering with evidence, and misdemeanors of violating a protection order and possessing drug abuse instruments. The charges stemmed from a traffic stop April 5, 2023 in Columbiana when Akers had an active protection order with the passenger of the vehicle. Once at the police station in Columbiana, he was caught with a syringe in his possession.
