LISBON -- A Rogers man accused of trying to harm a woman in October 2022 must serve four days in jail as a requirement of probation.
James Laughlin, 32, Dutchtown School Road, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for misdemeanor domestic violence. He was originally indicted for a fifth-degree felony domestic violence charge but entered a plea to the misdemeanor.
He was placed on probation for three years, with a requirement to serve 180 days in the county jail, with 175 days suspended and credit for one day already served, leaving a balance of four days to serve in jail. He had been accused of allegedly kicking a pregnant woman during an altercation at the Y-Inn Bar and Grill on state Route 7 in Rogers in October 2022.

-- Bryce Bezdek, 46, Sprucevale Road, Rogers, had his jury trial continued last week, with a new trial date set of April 24 for two second-degree felony counts of theft from a person in a protected class. A status hearing was set for April 18. Bezdek was issued a secret indictment in April 2023 which alleged he stole money from an elderly man from April 14, 2014 to Oct. 17, 2020, with the value of the property or services stolen at least $37,500 or more, but less than $150,000.
-- Matthew Koziorynsky, 28, Sixth Street, East Liverpool, was placed into drug court for a period not to exceed five years and ordered to remain under community control for tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possessing drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor. His probation was dishonorably terminated for violations. Koziorynsky hid a syringe during a traffic stop on Aug. 23, 2021.
-- John R. Wagner, 37, whose address had been listed at state Route 165, East Palestine, on the indictment, pleaded guilty recently to failure to fulfill violent offender database duties, a fifth-degree felony earlier this year. Sentencing set for March 11. The indictment alleged that Wagner was a violent offender required to register his address with the sheriff's office and failed to do that on Feb. 21.
