LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Fred Struble, 25, Chain School Road, East Palestine, was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence for allegedly punching and scratching a woman in the face, pulling her across the floor and strangling her on Nov. 12 on Chain School Road, Unity Township.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Dec. 7 for Christopher Byers Jr., 29, West Wilson Avenue, Salem, charged with fourth-degree felony strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence for allegedly putting his hands around a woman’s throat and choking her and covering her mouth and nose to prevent her from calling for help on Nov. 18 in Salem.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Jan. 4 for David Birch, 59, Failer Road, East Palestine, charged with fourth-degree felony operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs fourth offense and misdemeanors of OVI breath and signal devices on bicycles for allegedly riding a bicycle while impaired on Nov. 24 in East Palestine and having no front headlight or rear red light as required.

A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Jan. 22 for Randall Morris, 27, McCormick Run Road, Lisbon, charged with fifth-degree felony improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and misdemeanors of OVI first offense, speeding, no seat belt, possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia. Morris allegedly possessing a loaded firearm while allegedly impaired on Nov. 25 in the county.

A pretrial was set Dec. 7 for Brian William Rice, 49, Diamond, charged with two counts engaging in prostitution, two counts possessing criminal tools, and singles counts of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs and attempted related to drugs for two separate sex for purchase incidents. On April 23 in East Palestine, Rice allegedly answered an undercover ad for a mother and adult daughter on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with the females for $140 and traveled to the village for the meeting. He also allegedly possessed suspended cocaine and a cut straw used to ingest the narcotic. On Nov. 24, he allegedly drove to Salem after arranging to meet an undercover agent for sexual conduct in exchange for $180.

George Fair, 54, Youngstown, was fined $250 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for disorderly conduct, amended from engaging in prostitution, a charge of possessing criminal tools dismissed. He was ordered to forfeit $100 seized to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, complete 40 hours community service and a 12-hour online prostitution prevention course.

Fair responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $100, arriving in East Palestine on May 29 for the meeting.

Larry Calhoun, 38, Gainesville, Fla., was fined $750 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was permitted to buy out 40 hours community service for $400 and was ordered to complete a 12-hour online prostitution prevention course. Calhoun responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $80, arriving in East Palestine on Aug. 18 for the meeting.

A pretrial was set Dec. 7 for James Cooper, Allen Road, Salem, charged with aggravated menacing and two counts domestic violence for allegedly threatening a woman on Nov. 17 in Salem and leading her to believe he would harm her unborn child.

A pretrial was set March 4 for Harold Adams Jr., 55, South 15th Street, Sebring, charged with theft for allegedly failing to scan and pay for 37 items totaling $147 at the Salem Walmart self-checkout on Nov. 3.

A pretrial was set March 4 for Lee Guterba, 63, Kelly Park Road, Leetonia, charged with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a wooden bench on a Kelly Park Road property on Oct. 27.

Devon Sherwood, 24, Independence Square, Wellsville, was ordered released from jail and a fugitive from justice case against him was dismissed. Sherwood had been placed in jail on Oct. 26 for a warrant out of California for four alleged charges, including possessing matter depicting a person under 18 in sexual conduct, harmful matter sent with intent of seduction of a minor, content of a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense and annoy/molest a person believed to be a child under 18 years old.

Sentencing was set Dec. 4 for Jamie Tice Jr., 23, Malone Road, Salineville, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft. Tice was seen taking an item off of the shelf and placing it in the front of his pants and failing to pay at Pure Pet on Oct. 11 in Salem. On Sept. 18, he was seen on video stealing packages off of a woman’s porch on South Lincoln Avenue in Salem. He was fined $150 and sentenced to 20 days in jail, with credit for four days served, leaving 16 days left to serve in jail for possessing drug paraphernalia. He had a small bag with a crystal-like substance on Nov. 24 in Salem.

A pretrial was set Dec. 7 for Matthew Close, 51, Allen Road, Salem, charged with violation of a protection order for allegedly violating a protection order by sending a woman text messages on Nov. 26 in Salem.

Tyler Westfall, 30, Toronto, was fined $100 for disorderly conduct for being intoxicated on Nov. 19 in East Liverpool.

A pretrial was set Feb. 1 for Gloria Sosack, 36, Riverview Street, East Liverpool, charged with criminal mischief for allegedly beating on a door in East Liverpool with a baseball bat and causing damage.

A pretrial was set Feb. 27 for Michelle Stowers, 48, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, charged with possession of drugs for allegedly illegally possessing diazepam on July 25 in Columbiana.

David Collins, 52, Stewart Road, Salem, was fined $250 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 28 days suspended and credit for two days served for disorderly conduct, amended from domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Collins choked and held a woman against the wall during an incident Sept. 7 in Salem.

A status hearing was set Feb. 26 for Nathan Knight, 39, North Market Street, Lisbon, charged with driving under suspension, possession of drug abuse instrument, obstructing official business, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and failure to dim headlights. Knight was accused of trespassing in the woods behind Continental Drive in Salem on Oct. 12 and giving police a false name besides possessing a burnt pipe.

Damien Phillips, 21, South Egypt Road, Salem, was fined $200 and sentenced to 10 days in jail, with credit for 10 days served for two counts drug paraphernalia for possessing a glass pipe with burnt residue and a clear bag with crystal-like substance on July 14 in Salem. He was also ordered to make restitution of $650 to the city of Salem for damaging a city sidewalk on Dec. 8, 2022.

Billie Jo Derr, 44, Youngstown, was fined $1,050 and sentenced to 11 days in jail, with credit for 11 days served, for OVI, plate light and drug abuse instrument. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year.

Autumn Goodfellow, 27, Jennings Avenue, Salem, was fined $150 and sentenced to one day in jail, with credit for one day served, for drug paraphernalia for possessing a glass methamphetamine pipe during a traffic stop Feb. 23 in Columbiana.

Chelsea Landis, 29, East Third Street, Salem, was fined $150 and given a suspended 90-day jail term for assault. She was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Landis attacked another woman at the woman’s work area in Salem on Aug. 16.

Preston Woods, 34, Prospect Street, Salem, was fined $875 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program. His driver’s license was suspended for one year and he was ordered to complete 40 hours community service.

Brandy Wiggins, 35, Steubenville, was fined $200 and sentenced to six days in jail, with credit for six days served, for drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments for possessing a black bag with syringes, a burnt glass pipe and other paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Nov. 10 in St. Clair Township.

Ariel Durham, 34, Bank Street, Salem, was sentenced to 18 days in jail, with credit for 18 days already served, for two counts criminal trespass for trespassing at the Foundry in Salem on Nov. 8 after being told to leave and for trespassing on a front porch in Salem on Nov. 9.

A pretrial was set Feb. 29 for Elise Muslovski, 43, North Elm Street, Columbiana, charged with OVI, OVI breath and marked lanes.

Larry Rummel, 63, Maple Street, Washingtonville, was fined $925 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, leaving 30 days to serve for OVI and marked lanes. His driver’s license was suspended for two years. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

A pretrial was set March 7 for Brian Miller Jr., 41, Florence, East Liverpool, charged with driving under suspension.

Shannon Cunning, 47, Youngstown, was fined $200 and sentenced to three days in jail for driving under suspension and loud exhaust.

Aidrianna Green, 19, state Route 45, Wellsville, was fined $150 for speeding.

Brenen Ewing, 19, West Fourth Street, Salem, was fined $25 for two lights displayed and received no fine for possessing marijuana and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Dustin Calhoun, 24, Amsterdam, was fined $50 for expired tag.

Christopher Wood, 30, Toronto, was fined $150 for driving under suspension.
