Court News

LISBON — In Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Jonathan White, 39, Wick Street, Salineville, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for third-degree felony illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility and fifth-degree felony possession of drugs for possessing buprenorphine and trying to take drugs into a jail facility on Sept. 30, 2021. He received credit for 32 days already served in jail.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Amanda Wilson, 32, Alliance, was ordered to serve 85 days in the county jail, with credit for 19 days served, leaving a term of 66 days in jail, for violating the terms of her intervention plan for possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing cocaine in April 2022. Her intervention plan was dishonorably terminated.

Grand Jury

LISBON — A man identified as a volunteer coach at Wellsville by Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino has been accused of rape and other sex-related charges involving two juveniles.

Justin R. Talbert, 22, Center Street, Wellsville, was served Saturday with a secret indictment issued by the county grand jury for first-degree felony rape, second-degree felony sexual battery, and third-degree felonies of gross sexual imposition and importuning.

According to the indictment, the alleged sexual conduct and sexual contact occurred from April 1, 2021 to Sept. 22, 2022. The rape and sexual battery charges involve a child who was 13 years old when the abuse began. The gross sexual imposition and importuning involve a child who was 12 years old when the touching started.

Bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety and the case was assigned to county Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton. Talbert is scheduled for arraignment at 1 p.m. Nov. 9.

Also served with secret indictments over the weekend were:

— Christine Bailey, 63, Northside Avenue, East Liverpool, complicity in the commission of an offense, a second-degree felony, for allegedly soliciting or procuring her sons to commit felonious assault on July 15. According to Abruzzino, the case stemmed from a dispute over a fence.

— Terry Sonntog, 47, Etruria Street, East Liverpool, aggravated possession of drugs and aggravated trafficking in drugs, both second-degree felonies, for allegedly possessing and packaging for sale an amount of methamphetamine equal or greater than five times bulk but less than 50 times bulk on Sept. 8, 2022.

— Bobbie J. Puz, 32, Alliance, fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor patient endangerment for allegedly causing or attempting to cause physical harm to a functionally impaired person on July 9 while serving as a developmental disabilities caretaker.

— Jeffrey Maurer, 53, state Route 154, Rogers, fourth-degree felony grand theft for allegedly depriving Ohio Valley Business Travel Association of funds from unauthorized withdrawals and card purchases from Jan. 1, 2018 to Jan. 31, 2019.

— James L. Wilson, 57, Clark Avenue, Wellsville, nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly failing to pay child support for one child from July 4, 2021 to July 2, 2023.

— Michael Stacey, 33, 19th Street, Wellsville, three counts nonsupport of dependents, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly failing to pay child support for three children from July 4, 2021 to July 2, 2023.
