Municipal
LISBON -- In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary/status conference/pretrial hearing was set July 10 for Lee N. Givens, East Taggart Street, East Palestine, for fourth-degree felony theft, fifth-degree felonies of possession of drugs and breaking and entering and misdemeanors of misconduct at an emergency, obstructing justice, drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass, and driving under suspension. He'll also face a probation violation hearing on July 10 for multiple charges.
Givens allegedly broke into a South Market Street property in East Palestine on May 5, stole drugs, had a meth pipe in his possession and lied to police about the whereabouts of a woman, who was found hiding in a vehicle next to him. He was also charged for a disturbance at an emergency road block on March 31 on East Taggart Street, East Palestine. The driving under suspension charge stemmed from a traffic stop on March 8 in East Palestine. The felony drug charge stemmed from his alleged possession of methamphetamine on Jan. 14 in East Palestine.
Joseph Marriotti, 32, Youngstown, was fined $700 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 176 days suspended and credit for four days served, for possessing criminal tools, open container and obstructing official business. A soliciting charge was dismissed. He was ordered to complete 200 hours community service and to forfeit $70 to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Marriotti was accused of responding to an undercover ad and requesting sexual acts in exchange for $70 and arriving on Dec. 30 in East Palestine for the meeting. He also had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and deleted the message thread on his cell phone upon being approached by officers.
A preliminary hearing was set July 31 for Brenda Diamond, 57, Commerce Street, Wellsville, charged with fourth-degree felony counterfeiting for allegedly passing a counterfeit $100 bill at Peps Market in Wellsville on June 11.
A pretrial was set Sept. 28 for Lisa Kidder, 51, Idaho Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking a female relative in the wrist with a piece of wood during an incident July 2 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set July 13 for Kerry Vance, 45, West 16th Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly striking a man in the back of the head during a verbal dispute on June 30 in Salem and also biting him in the face. A glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics was allegedly found in her backpack also.
A pretrial was set July 13 for Neil Barber, 47, West 16th Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly threatening a woman with bodily injury by raising a fist at her and then grabbing her and wrestling her to the ground on June 30 in Salem. He also allegedly possessed a crystal-like substance in a plastic bag in his jacket pocket.
Ryan Frantz, 22, West Pine Street, Lisbon, was fined $150 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for disorderly conduct, amended from domestic violence. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service. Frantz was accused of causing harm to a woman by hitting her in the face during an altercation on April 17 in Lisbon.
Daniel Raffle, 50, West Street, Salineville, waived extradition as a fugitive from justice for petty larceny in West Virginia. The warrant was discovered during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township on July 1.
Dakota Henson, 28, Newell, W.Va., was fined $150 for disorderly conduct, amended from resisting arrest. Charges of failure to disclose one's personal information and disorderly conduct were dismissed. Henson was acting disorderly while at East Liverpool City Hospital and refused to give his name and basic information and pulled away from officers during the incident in October 2022.
A pretrial was set July 13 for Brendon Howard, 19, Brown Street, Lisbon, charged with domestic violence for allegedly assaulting a woman in Lisbon by choking her, squeezing her neck, face, arms, chest and legs on July 1.
Jeffrey Riachy, 52, Rigby Street, East Liverpool, was fined $150 and sentenced to 30 days in jail, with 29 days suspended and credit for one day served, for disorderly conduct. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Riachy was accused of being disorderly and yelling at bystanders during an incident in April in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set Sept. 28 for Terry Dickson, 52, Garfield Street, Lisbon, charged with impersonating a peace officer or private police officer and reckless operation for allegedly claiming to be part of the presidential task force and federal law enforcement during a traffic stop July 2 in Columbiana.
A pretrial was set Sept. 26 for Lennart Backman, 49, Ohio Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly causing physical harm to a woman on April 5, 2017 in East Liverpool.
Thomas Akers, 33, St. George Street, East Liverpool, was fined $200 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served, for violation of a protection order and criminal trespass. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Akers went to a woman's property in East Liverpool on April 14, in violation of a protection order, and after being criminally trespassed from the property.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set July 10 for Steven Stokes Jr., 21, East Third Street, Salem, charged with fifth-degree felony improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense, OVI breath first offense and speeding. During a traffic stop July 1 in Salem, Stokes allegedly had a loaded handgun in the center console.
Lisa Young, 49, Alliance, was fined $915 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI and traffic control devices. Her driver's license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. She was permitted to buy out 40 hours community service.
A pretrial was set July 27 for Brandon Schmitt Jr., 27, Youngstown, charged with OVI first offense, OVI breath first offense, reasonable control and no seat belt.
Leslie Dawn Wilson, 57, Bell Avenue, Columbiana, was fined $1,075 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI, left of center and driving under suspension. Her driver's license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted, and she was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.
A pretrial was set Sept. 18 for Carl Zents, 37, Signal Road, Columbiana, charged with OVI second offense, reasonable control and possessing marijuana.
A pretrial was set July 6 for Zachary Willis, 29, Vine Street, Salem, charged with driving under suspension, reckless operation, reasonable control, speeding, failure to display valid sticker, unsafe vehicle and no seat belt.
Charles Taylor, 57, Lincoln Way, Minerva, was fined $925 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended, and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program for OVI first offense and speeding. His driver's license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted.
Jacob Willison, 41, Vine Street, Salem, was fined $765 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 168 days suspended, leaving 12 days to serve, for OVI, driving under suspension and failure to control. His driver's license was suspended for two years and he was ordered to complete 40 hours community service.
