Court News

LISBON — In Common Pleas Court, Matthew P. Soldo, 41, Grant Street, Salem, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, a fifth-degree felony, violating a protection order, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of Fentanyl-based compound, a fifth-degree felony, for knowingly possessing and using the compound. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with 149 days credited.

Randy L. Fennell, 52, Vandergrift, Pa., pleaded guilty to compelling prostitution, a third-degree felony, for attempting to buy sexual activity from someone he believed to be a minor on July 21, 2021. He was sentenced to community control for three years and designated as a Tier II sex offender, who must register every six months for 25 years.

Kathryn Proctor, 31, Homeworth Road, Alliance, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony. She was placed on an intervention plan for three years.

William H. Dobbins Jr., 58, Campground Road, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony OVI count and driving under suspension for actions behind the wheel Feb. 1, 2020. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison, with credit for 60 days, fined $1,500 and had his licensed suspended for 25 years.

Jay Thomas Troyer, 28, Salem, stipulated to violating the terms of his treatment plan for two prior possession of cocaine charges. He was sentenced to a term at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center and continued community control

Michael J. Schneider, 26, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to trespassing in a habitation, a fourth-degree felony, for trespassing in the residence of Devin Cuthbertson on Continental Drive in Salem Aug. 25, 2020. He faces up to 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. Sentencing is set for Feb. 14.

Joshua E. Killing, 25, Salem, pleaded guilty to having weapons while under a disability, a third-degree felony, for possessing a firearm Oct. 27, 2020, having previously been convicted of a felony and burglary in 2017. He faces up to 36 months in prison and a $10,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Feb. 7.

Andrew J. Wright, 35, Rogers, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possession of methamphetamine July 22, 2020. He faces up to 12 months in prison, a $2,500 fine and five-year license suspension. Sentencing is set for Feb. 7.

Municipal

LISBON — In county Municipal Court, Phillip R. Cline, 48, West Wilson Street, Salem, was bound over to the grand jury on an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge for allegedly taking Vanessa Burnside’s vehicle without her knowledge on Oct. 6.

William Rodney Erskine, 26, Blueberry Drive, Columbiana, was fined $975, had his license suspended for a year and ordered to a three-day counseling program for OVI first offense and left of center.

Crystal D. Orndoff, 35, Wood Street, Wellsville, was fined $875, had her license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for OVI first offense.

A Jan. 11 pretrial was set for Javier Ibarra Correa, 45, Eighth Street, Columbiana, cited with OVI first offense and reasonable control.

Nathaniel Mango, 31, Whinnery Road, Salem, was credited with 12 days in jail, fined $250 and required 40 hours community service for violating a temporary protection order for going to the home of Tristin Solomon while intoxicated on Oct. 1.

A Jan. 4 pretrial was set for Charlene A. Makowiecki, 56, Boardman, cited with driving under OVI suspension.

A Jan. 4 pretrial was set for James R. Zimmerman, 27, state Route 7, Columbiana, cited with driving under suspension.

Ryan K. Newson, 41, Ashtabula, was fined $300 for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of criminal tools for tools and small baggies for packaging narcotics found by K-9 Jesy in 2014.

Tiana R. Thornton, 41, Uniontown, Pa., and Michael A. Derov, 54, Uniontown, Pa., were each sentenced to three days in jail and fined $150 for drug paraphernalia for burnt Choreboy in her wallet and three glass crack pipes in the vehicle on Tuesday. Derov was further fined $250 for driving under suspension and marked lanes.

Clarence L. Blake, 32, Grimms Bridge Road, Calcutta, was fined $180 for driving under suspension and marked lanes.

Ernest Lautzenheiser, 70, Cameron Street, Winona, was fined $200 for violating regulations requiring him to connect to a sewer system and violating board orders from the health department for having trash, tires and openings at a property on state Route 9, Kensington.

Miguel Angel Lopez Juarez, 27, Weirton, W.Va., was fined $130 for expired license and use of an unauthorized plate.

Brandon M. House, 26, Youngstown, was fined $250 and sentenced to 15 days in jail concurrent with his prison term for unauthorized plate and no license.

A Nov. 18 pretrial was set for John M. Diggins III, 45, Johnston, Pa., cited with driving under suspension.

Anthony Steven Trantham, 56, Ravenna, was fined $150 for plate light amended from failure to stop when directed.

Eric C. Trenkelbach, 33, Chestnut Street, Leetonia, was fined $250 and required 10 hours community service for driving under suspension.

EAST LIVERPOOL — In East Liverpool Municipal Court, Jeffrey D. Meredith, of Smithfield Street, was sentenced to 60 days in jail plus costs on a probation violation.

Tina M. George, of Pennsylvania Avenue, was sentenced to $250 plus costs,120 days in jail (22 days imposed) and 20 community service hours on a charge of domestic violence.

Angela N. Pascuzzi, of Old Fredericktown Road, was set Jan. 11 fo a show cause hearing and a jury trial Jan. 19 on a menacing by stalking charge.

Perry E. Wells, of Lorain, was set Dec. 7 for a status hearing on charges of no operator’s license and improper registration.

Philip K. Funk, of Akron, was set Dec. 9 for a second pretrial on driving under suspension, lanes of travel and drug paraphernalia charges.

Samantha M. Souders, of Elkton Road in Lisbon, was set Dec. 7 for a status hearing on a theft charge.

Mikayla M. White, of North Shadylane Drive was set Dec. 7 for a status hearing on a driving under suspension charge.

A theft charge against Jack L. Cunningham, of Homestead Drive, was dismissed with prejudice, after probable cause was found with the costs paid by the defendant.

Aaron Oakes, of Michigan Avenue, had his trial continued to Jan. 13 on deposit garbage and storage of tires charge.

Pamela J. Tate, of Cadmus Street, was sentenced to $250 plus costs, a 60-day suspended jail sentence and 40 community service hours on a theft charge with a possession of criminal tools charge dismissed.

Searrah N. Powell, of Aten Avenue in Wellsville, was set Dec. 30 for a pretrial on a domestic violence charge.

Aaron N. Francis, of Lisbon Street, was sentenced to 15 days in jail for a probation violation.

Michael L. Hanlon, of Dakota Street, was sentenced to $350 plus costs, 60 days in jail (one day imposed) and 40 community service hours on charges of theft and expired plates.

Edward B. Bailey, of Allison Street, was set Nov. 18 for a pretrial on obstruction and a revocation hearing.

Logan T. Blake, of Princeton Avenue, was sentenced to $375 plus costs, 90 days in jail (45 imposed) and 40 community service hours on charges of failure to comply with a police officer, drug abuse instruments and no operator’s license (two counts).

Kendall A. Roberts, of Moore Street, $1100 plus costs and 60 days in jail (six imposed) on charges of OVI, no operator’s license and failure to control.

Amber L. Maraldo, of Continental Drive in Salem, was sentenced to 75 days in jail on a probation violation.
