Court News
LISBON — Douglas E. Gill, 39, East Lake Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to failure to provide notice of a change of address, a second-degree felony. He faces up to a 12-year term in prison and a $15,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 8. Gill, who has a prior felony conviction of indecency with a child in 2009 in Texas, failed to notify of his change of address on Sept. 23, 2019.
Hope M. Steed, 22, Valley Road, Salem, was sentenced to nine months in prison for three counts of aggravated possession of drugs for having methamphetamine and two other controlled substances containing ethanamine and a substituted cathinone on Aug. 24, 2018. Steed also was credited with 171 days served for violating her community control for a prior possession of drugs conviction for having methamphetamines on Nov. 24, 2017.
Wilber L. Miller, 46, Bell Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, and requested immediate sentencing. Miller was sentenced to 392 days in jail for which he was credited with time served. A forfeiture was ordered for the $311 in his possession at the time. Charges of tampering with evidence and obstructing official business will no longer be pursued by the prosecutor’s office.
Julie D. Mayfield, 41, LaCroft Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed on four years community control for illegal use of supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits and Medicaid fraud. She was ordered to repay $34,196 in restitution to the Department of Jobs and Family Services for the benefits she collected she was not entitled to between Oct. 1, 2013 and March 31, 2019.
Grand Jury
LISBON — A secret indictment was served on Britney N. Galeoti, 32, Williams Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with illegal use of supplemental nutritional assistance program benefits. Between Oct. 24, 2016 through Oct. 31, 2019, she is accused of stealing benefits for which she was not entitled. The charge is a third-degree felony.
Municipal
LISBON — An Oct. 8 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set for Austin A. Angeli, 32, Jefferson Avenue, Salem, charged with a first-degree felony burglary and assault for allegedly entered a home on Fair Avenue in Salem in the early hours of Monday, grabbed a woman, Candy Armstrong, from behind, covering her mouth with his hand. He then reportedly proceeded to drag her through the house saying he was the angel of death and he was taking her to meet her maker. Angeli reportedly had fled recently from Salem Regional Medical Center after he was sent there by law enforcement. Angeli remains at the county jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
A Nov. 17 pretrial was set for Aaron Gardiner, 32, West Finley, Pa., cited with OVI first offense and marked lanes.
Calvin C. Perry Jr., 49, Girard, was fined $1,025, had his license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for OVI first offense, marked lanes and no helmet on a motorcycle.
Wendy Marie Billingslea, 50, Elm Street, Columbiana, was fined $725, had her license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for OVI first offense and crossing a divided highway.
Glenda L. Knight, 63, North Market Street, Lisbon, was fined $725, sentenced to three days in jail, had her license suspended for a year and required 40 hours community service for OVI first offense and left of center.
John Walter Possage Jr., 49, state Route 558, Leetonia, was fined $350, credited with a day in jail and required 40 hours community service for domestic violence for domestic violence after his wife, Tammie Possage, said he was yelling at her while she was driving home on Aug. 29, then he pulled her hair and caused her to crash the vehicle.
Melanie Lourosa Gorby, 37, state Route 170, Negley, was fined $350 for driving under suspension.
A citation for furnishing alcohol to an underage drinker against Milton S. Marple IV, 21, U.S. Route 30, Lisbon, was dismissed so it can be refiled in juvenile court.
David C. Cole, 36, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was credited with seven days served in jail, sentenced to an additional 13 days in jail and fined $150 for criminal trespassing for going to Breanna Reed’s Salem Acres apartment on Sept. 24, banging on all the doors and windows when he had been told by police on Sept. 16 not to return there.
James T. Oiler, 18, First Street, Wellsville, was fined $200, credited with a day in jail and ordered 40 hours community service for aggravated menacing for threatening Austin Allison, his aunt and grandmother, utilizing voice messages on Facebook Messenger.
Nicole Polley, 32, East Main Street, Washingtonville, was credited with two days in jail, fined $250 and required 40 hours community service for domestic violence for throwing a pop can at Cory M. Haueter, striking him in the face on July 8.
A Nov. 12 pretrial was set for John M. Simonds, 58, Main Street, Leetonia, cited with driving under a 12-point suspension, driving under OVI suspension and marked lanes.
A Nov. 19 pretrial was set for Danny T. Richter, 58, California, Pa., charged with assault for allegedly striking Thomas Fluharty in 2001.
A Nov. 16 pretrial was set for Adam C. Strapazzon, 37, New Cumberland, W.Va., cited with criminal damaging for allegedly kicking in a door of a Rose Drive, Lisbon, apartment on July 4.
Falicia Leanne White, 31, Washington Street, Lisbon, was fined $330 and required 40 hours community service for no license, a brake light violation and drug paraphernalia for a glass pipe with burn marks.
Trent A. Marcum, 24, North Madison, Salem, was credited with a day served, sentenced to four additional days in jail and fined $150 for drug paraphernalia allegedly having a hypodermic needle cap, a slightly mirrored plastic panel and a scale with white residue in a backpack after a possible drug overdose on Sept. 22.
Reilly Gregory Carden Nicola, 20, North Canton, was fined $100 for drug paraphernalia for a grinder with green plant residue.
A Nov. 19 pretrial was set for Robert McLaughlin, 60, West Lincoln Way, Lisbon, cited with criminal mischief for allegedly kicking a hole in the siding at Numbers Brewery on Sept. 14.
A disorderly conduct citation was dismissed against Thomas E. Pease, 63, Annesley Road, East Liverpool. Pease had been cited for alleged public urination on Sept. 5.
