Columbiana council promotes police officer

COLUMBIANA — The city promoted a police officer and filled a vacant seat on the zoning board of appeals in recent weeks. During its Sept. 15 meeting, city council approved hiring Bryan Granchie as sergeant for the Columbiana Police Department. Granchie first joined the force in October of 2014 and then took over as K-9 officer in February of 2018, a position he has held since that time. Good election turnout expected in Mahoning

With high-profile and competitive races for governor and U.S. senator on the ballot, the Mahoning County election director is predicting a good turnout. East Liverpool council approves fire department to accept grant

EAST LIVERPOOL – City council was unanimous in accepting a grant in excess of $181,000 for the fire department. Council authorized Fire Chief Antony Cumo to accept a Homeland Security grant for $181,200 during its special meeting Sept. 29.
