DAMASCUS – Amanda Jean Smith and Thomas Ross Christy were united in marriage on July 19 at Damascus Friends Church.

The bride is the daughter of Roy and Shelly Smith, Salem.

The groom is the son of Bob and Deb Christy, Alvada.

Pastor Ray Harris officiated the 2:30 p.m. ceremony.

The bride wore a lace over satin gown with an illusion back and cap sleeves. She carried a bouquet of orange and pink daisies.

Madison Pidgeon, Salem, served as maid of honor, in a pink gown. In matching gowns were bridesmaids Dee Christy, Alvada; Kathy Blackburn, Columbus; Brittani Nau, Caldwell; Becca Kocher, Galion; and Jenn Rank, Marengo. Carly Pearson, godchild of the bride, Salem, was flower girl.

Performing the duties of best man was Philip Christy, brother of the groom, Marion. Groomsmen were Jacob Smith, Salem; Chad Thomas, Vanlue; Andrew Bond, New Vienna; Alex Dawes and Lewis Stearns, both of Bloomdale.

A reception for 250 guests followed at Courtney’s Banquet Center in Alliance.

The bride is a 2009 graduate of West Branch High School and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural, environmental and development economics from The Ohio State University. She is employed as a program technician at the Farm Service Agency in Hancock County.

The groom is a 2009 graduate of Carey High School and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural systems management from The Ohio State University in 2012. He is employed as a dealership management associate at Evolution Ag, LLC in Upper Sandusky.

Following a honeymoon to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the couple reside in Carey.
