Charles B. (Chick) and Maxine Brookes of East Liverpool celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Aug. 5, 2023 with a family dinner at the Dutch Haus Restaurant in Columbiana. The couple were married in Columbiana at the First United Methodist Church in 1948 and returned to the same church steps to re-create their wedding photo of 75 years past.

They have two sons, Attorney Timothy R. Brookes of East Liverpool, Ohio and Attorney Mark C. Brookes of Columbus, Ohio, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brookes served four years in the U.S. Air Force and then returned to his former employment at The Review where he eventually served as the composing room foreman and as a linotype machinist. He finished his career working at Birch Supply.

Mrs. Brookes was employed at Olsen’s and Ogilvies’ Department stores. She worked at CATV Cable before retiring.
