65th Wedding Anniversary

Floyd and Dee Welker of North Lima recently celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law with nearly 50 family members in attendance. The couple was married June 28, 1958, in Boardman during an 11:30 a.m. ceremony with a garden reception following at the bride’s parents’ residence. They have lived in this community their entire marriage and are members of Paradise Church of Christ.

Floyd is retired from Plexco Pipe company where he was assistant superintendent, advancing to superintendent, and traveled across the United States. He was a volunteer fireman for several years before serving as assistant fire chief for nine years. He also served as a Beaver Township trustee for 12 years.

As a homemaker raising four daughters, Dee eventually went to work for and retired from South Range Schools in 2000 after serving in the cafeteria for over 20 years. She then volunteered at the Salem hospital for an additional 13 years.

The Welker’s continue to serve the community as volunteer members of 3 C’s, members of Canfield AARP, supporters of the South Range Raiders, and followers of local Country Music Jams.

Floyd and Dee had five children, David (deceased at birth), Joann (Neil) Maxwell, Susan (Mike deceased) Kenney, Karen (Paul) Landis, Connie (Tom) Young; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The Welker’s have consistently invested in their faith, family, and friends and have enjoyed countless events over the years attending functioning for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
