Johnsons mark golden year

Larry and Brenda Johnson of Salem will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today with their children and grandchildren.

The couple were married April 3, 1971 by the Rev. Bruce Milligan and the Rev. Robert Salmon in the First Presbyterian Church of Salem.

Mrs. Johnson is the former Brenda Wilhelm, daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Wilhelm. Mr. Johnson is the son of the late Raymond and Mary Johnson. The Johnsons have two children, Christopher (Shannon) Johnson of Salem and Kerri (Jeff) Zacharias of Salem. They also have six grandchildren, Megan and Audrey Gordon, Kelan and Adelyn Johnson, and Maxwell and Reagan Zacharias.

Mr. Johnson retired from First Energy as a working Foreman and later as an instructor at the Kine School in Warren.

Mrs. Johnson retired from Crestview Local where she taught Family and Consumer Science and Junior High Art. They are both members of Salem Presbyterian Church.

Before COVID they celebrated with their family on a Western Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway.

They will be honored today with a family dinner at Nicolinis in Boardman.
