SALEM – Richard and Eileen Shanker of Salem celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary over the Independence Day weekend at home with family. They were married on August 31, 1951.
Mr. Shanker was employed for 29 years at Sterling Boat Trailer Company, Salem, 18 years at MPI Labels, Sebring, and for 13 years at The Label Team, Salem. He retired on his 80th birthday from The Label Team.
Mrs. Shanker was employed for 12 years as a label artist at MPI Labels, Sebring. She retired to be a full-time homemaker.
The couple are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Salem and the Salem Elks Lodge.
They have three daughters, Karen, Pennsylvania; Connie, North Carolina; and Susan (deceased), Salem, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
