Coroner: Man found in vacant house died of gunshot wounds

DAYTON , Ohio (AP) — A man whose body was found in a vacant house in Ohio died of multiple gunshot wounds, a coroner said Monday.
Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger ruled the Nov. 17 death of 28-year-old Todd Burkhart a homicide. The Mansfield man’s body was found Friday in a vacant house in Dayton.
Burkhart was reported missing earlier this month with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Kyla Hayton, also of Mansfield.
Hayton’s car was found in Dayton last week with a window broken out. Police then found Burkhart’s body on Friday in a vacant house near where the car was discovered. Police are still searching for Hayton.
Burkhart and Hayton were reported missing Nov. 18 in Mansfield, 135 miles (217 kilometers) north of Dayton, two days after the couple dropped off their 4-year-old daughter at Hayton’s mother’s home in Columbus.
Police said items belonging to the couple, including clothes, were found outside Hayton’s car and in a wooded area behind the vacant house in Dayton.
