Slabach leads South Range
GREENFORD — South Range senior distance standout Emmitt Slabach scored 30 1/2 points and the Raiders needed every one of them.
The Raiders won the team title at the Northeast 8 Track and Field Championship on Tuesday with 154 points, four more than runner-up Lakeview.
Slabach was first in the 1600-meter run (4:29.26) and 800 run (a personal-best 1:58.84) and joined Anthony Berry, Hunter Bruner and Xavier Winner on the winning 3200 relay team (8:44.86). Slabach finished off his day by taking second in the 3200 run (10:32.12).
South Range senior Tristan Toy won two events, the 400 dash (51.46 seconds) and long jump (20-feet-10 1/2). Both efforts were personal bests.
Two more South Range seniors won events –Troy Combs in the 200 dash (22.71 seconds) and Asher Moorefield in the discus (143-2).

Spooner wins NE8 long jump
GREENFORD — The South Range girls won three events at the Northeast 8 Track and Field Championships on Tuesday.
Winners for the Raiders were junior Gabriella Spooner in the long jump (16-feet-10 1/4), junior Taylor Dado in the 400-meter dash (61.27 seconds) and sophomore Cassandra Habeger in the shot put (30-7 3/4).
