DOVER — Two East Liverpool boys tennis doubles team advanced to the district on Wednesday after action at the final day of the sectional tournament at Dover City Park.

East Liverpool’s Brady Dawson and Kodie Fennell lost to a team from Hiland 0-6, 6-4, 6-2 to start the day. Garrett Cooper and Nicholas Aldrich dropped a 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 decision to a team from St. Clairsville.

Dawson and Fennell bested Cooper and Aldrich 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the 7th and 8th seed match.

The top eight finishers moved on to the district set for Monday at Dover City Park.

Only the singles and doubles champions will move on to the state tournament.

Salem’s and West Branch’s tennis teams took part in the Div. II sectional tennis tournament at Boardman and Poland High Schools.

No Warrior or Quaker advanced to the district tournament.
