East Palestine sweeps Leetonia

UNITY — Blake Noel tossed a one-hitter and Cale Moraski a two-hitter and neither allowed a walk in an 8-0, 6-0 doubleheader sweep in a pair of five-inning games at Ace of Diamonds on Wednesday.

Moraski struck out 14 in the first game and went 3-for-3 at the plate.

The first game was a completion of a suspended game from Monday.

Noel allowed only a hit to Chase Bondi, the second batter, to highlight the second game. Noel struck out eight.

Kyler Bourne went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs.

East Palestine improves to 12-7 overall and 7-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs still have two league games against Southern and one against Lisbon remaining.

The Bulldogs will play Heartland Christian today at the Ace of Diamonds.

Crestview 6, Warren JFK 1

NILES — Warren JFK took down Crestview 6-1 on Wednesday night at Eastwood Field.

Isaac Unkefer had two of Crestview’s four hits.

Braden Devine was the losing pitcher with a strikeout and three walks in four innings.

Crestview (6-9) hosts Warren JFK today.

West Branch 6, Salem 2

SALEM — West Branch made it a season sweep of Salem with a 6-2 win on Wednesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference baseball action.

Carson Wike tossed five innings while walking four and striking out one for the winners. Anthony Perry had two hits and an RBI for Branch.

Derek Oesch, Keegan Sommers and Ben Kuboff had hits for Salem.

Colin Riesen got the loss with three strikeouts and three walks in four innings.

West Branch (8-10 and 4-5 in the EBC) is at Carrollton today.

Salem fell to 2-15 and 0-9 in the EBC. The Quakers play Mooney today at Cene Park.

Bellaire 10, Beaver Local 1

BELLAIRE — Bellaire sent Beaver Local to a 10-1 loss on Wednesday.

Paxton Grimes had a double and triple for the Beavers. Matt Anderson added a double. Grimes was also the losing pitcher with four strikeouts and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Beaver Local is 3-14 and hosts Columbiana today.

Oak Glen 10, East Liverpool 6

EAST LIVERPOOL — It’s approaching tournament time for the Oak Glen baseball team and the Golden Bears tuned up with a 10-6 win over East Liverpool on Wednesday.

Oak Glen is 11-16 and hosts Steubenville Central on Friday for its last regular season game. Josh Maher had three hits and three RBIs for Oak Glen. Gannon Cline and Christian Chappell had two hits each.

Donovan Shallcross took the loss with two strikeouts and five walks. Elliot Fitch had two hits for the Potters, while Kasen Ramsey had a double. Shallcross had a hit and three RBIs.

The Potters (1-18) are at Carrollton on May 13.
