Beavers finally get to East Liverpool
EAST LIVERPOOL — It took until the last Friday of the regular season to get the game in, but the Beaver Local and East Liverpool baseball teams finally got to match up at East Liverpool High School.
The game was scheduled on several different previous dates but was rained out each time.
This time the rain stayed away and Beaver Local’s bats exploded in the last two innings for a 9-4 win.
Beaver Local scored four in the sixth and five in the seventh to build a lead that East Liverpool could not come back from. The Potters scored all of their runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Mikey Druschel was key for the Beavers as he had two singles, a double and an RBI. Andre Wiegand and Britton Hickman had a hit and two RBIs each.
Paxton Grimes earned the win with 13 strikeouts and three walks in 6 1/3 innings.
Donovan Shallcross was the losing pitcher as he struck out six and walked five in 5 1/3 innings.
Nate Birch had two hits and an RBI for East Liverpool. Kasen Ramsey added a double.
Beaver Local (6-15) is at Struthers on Saturday.
East Liverpool (1-20) will be at Cambridge on Tuesday for a tournament game.

Lisbon 10, Liberty 0
LISBON — Lisbon wrapped up a 10-0 win in five innings over Liberty on Friday in a regular season contest.
Marc Moore led the Devil charge with three hits and an RBI. Aiden Myers had a single, double and two RBIs. Ashton Hinchliffe added two hits and an RBI.
Brady Carpenter had 11 strikeouts and a walk in five innings.
Lisbon (11-8) hosts East Palestine on Monday.

Heartland 14, Leetonia 10
LEETONIA — Heartland Christian’s baseball team outlasted Leetonia 14-10 on Friday.
Owen Bender had two hits including a double with two RBIs for the winners. P Bender added a single, double and two RBIs as well.
Alex Hamilton got the win with five strikeouts and no walks in four innings of relief.
Leetonia was led by Dominic Lewis’ two hits.
Heartland is 4-14 and is schedule to play at Mathews Saturday.
Leetonia is 5-12 and is at Chaney on Tuesday.

West Branch 15, Struthers 3
STRUTHERS — West Branch had the bats humming in a 15-3 win over Struthers on Friday at Cene Park.
Grady Close led the Warriors with three hits including a double. Evan Springer had two hits and three RBIs. Drake Stryffeler chipped in two hits and four RBIs. Anthony Perry had two hits including a double. Boston Mulinix and Charlie Biskup had triples.
Carter Thrasher got the win for the Warriors as he went four innings with seven strikeouts and four walks.
West Branch is 9-16 and is at Boardman on Monday.
