United sweeps Heartland
HANOVERTON — United was clicking in a doubleheader sweep of Heartland on Saturday.
In the first game, the Eagles pounded out 11 hits in an 11-1 win in five innings.
Parker Newburn led the assault with two hits and four RBIs. Wyatt Swanson had a double and RBI, while Cavan Jackson added a triple, single and an RBI. Carter Simmons was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and a walk in the complete game effort.
Johnny Meyer had a double for Heartland (2-6), while Alex Hamilton took the loss with a strikeout and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.
In the second game, Quentin Taylor had 12 strikeouts in the 15-1 Eagle win in five innings. He also limited the Lions to one hit.
Newburn had two hits including a double, while Cavan Jackson had a double and two RBIs. Nick Lutes had two hits and two RBIs. Tyler Wood had two hits and an RBI.
Evan Farrell was the losing pitcher with three strikeouts and two walks in 4 2/3 innings.
United (7-4) is at Lisbon today. Heartland is at Campbell on Thursday.

YOUNGSTOWN — Kyler Bourne had two hits and two RBIs, while Cale Moraski posted two hits and an RBI in East Palestine’s 11-2 win over Chaney on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Kealin Simon was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and three walks in four innings.
Phoenix Marvin had a double.
East Palestine is 4-2 and will host Wellsville today.

Berkeley Springs at Oak Glen (DH)
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s baseball split with Berkeley Springs in a doubleheader on Saturday.
In the first game, Oak Glen won 11-4 with Lucas Zoellers having three hits and two RBIs. Christian Chappell, Maddox McKay and Cam Carter had two hits each for Oak Glen. Sam Jenkins had a double.
Noah Willey was the winning pitcher as he struck out three and walked one in seven innings.
Berkeley Springs won the second game 12-2 in six innings. Chappell had two hits including a triple for the Bears, while he also took the loss with three strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
Oak Glen (6-9) is at Wheeling Central today.

SALEM — Salem’s baseball team saw Perry explode for eight runs in the fourth inning as the Quakers fell 12-1 in five innings on Saturday.
Salem is 1-6. Bairon Exline had a single and double for Salem. Colin Riesen had a double and RBI. Braydon Van Dyne took the loss with three strikeouts and five walks in 3 2/3 innings.
Salem is at Girard today.

MINERVA — East Liverpool won its first game of the season, 5-2, over Minerva on Saturday.
All the Potters’ runs came in the last two innings. Kooper Ramsey had a triple and three RBIs for the winners. Nate Birch had a double, while Dre Brown had a double.
Donovan Shallcross got the win with two strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.

GIRARD — Girard tallied 11 hits in its 9-2 victory over Columbiana on Saturday.
