EAST PALESTINE — The Howland boys track team edged Salem by half a point to win the 49th East Palestine Relays on Friday.

The Howland boys and girls swept the team titles for the fourth straight year with the boys totaling 86 1/2 points and the girls 88 points.

Salem’s Will Harmon, Ben Severe, Josh Mayhew and Marcus Phillips teamed up to win three events — the 4×100 relay (44.44 seconds), 4×200 relay (1:33.58) and 800-meter sprint medley (1:40.50).

The Quakers also got wins from Lucas Adams in the long jump (21-feet-5 1/4) and Hunter Owen in the shot put (48-8 1/4).

Beaver Local’s Landon Wheatley won the high jump (6-0).

The Salem girls won three events — Karlie Sampson in the long jump 15-3 1/2, Maddy Andres in the discus (118-2) and Liliana Pimentel-Alexander, Ava Lee, Emily Sinsley and Cassidy Wallace in the 4×1600 relay (24:33.71).
