Quakers turn out the lights on Clippers
SALEM — Salem’s baseball team beat Columbiana 3-1 in a night game Friday.
Troy Gibson and Colin Riesen had two hits each for the Quakers.
Brayden Van Dyne added a double.
Bairon Exline got the win with 10 strikeouts and a walk in five innings.
Max Conway and Liam McElwain had hits for Columbiana.
Sam Inboden got the loss with five strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
Salem (1-1) is scheduled to play at Hubbard on Saturday.
Columbiana (1-3) is scheduled to play at Norwayne on Saturday.

LISBON — Jack Morgan had three of Heartland’s five hits as the Lions downed Lisbon 14-2 on Friday.
Morgan had two singles and double with three RBIs. Christian Hamilton got the win with thre strikeouts and three walks in seven innings.
Heartland is 2-3 and is scheduled to host McDonald on Saturday.
Ashton Hinchliffe had two hits for the Devils, 3-2.
Bryce Esarey took the loss with nine strikeouts and three walks in 3 1/3 innings.
Lisbon is scheduled to host East Canton on Saturday.

STRUTHERS– Cale Moraski had three hits and two RBIs to lead the East Palestine baseball team to a 15-3 win over Lowellville on Friday at Cene Park.
Peyton Rutledge added two hits and two RBIs. Jaxson Robb had a hit and three RBIs.
Phoenix Marvin was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and three walks in 4 1/3 innings.
East Palestine (2-0) will be at United on Monday.

MINERVA –United’s baseball team saw its record even to .500 after a 6-1 loss at Minerva on Friday.
Braydon Wood paced the Lions (3-1) with two hits. Julian Dunbar added a double.
Wyatt Swanson had two hits for United.
Kadin Schonauer took the loss with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings for the Eagles, 3-3.
United will host East Palestine on Monday.

CADIZ — Beaver Local fell to Harrison Central 10-2 on Friday.
Beaver Local is 0-3 and is slated to play at Struthers on Saturday.
Steubenville 7, East Liverpool 1
STEUBENVILLE — Two teams in need of a win changed fields and days to get their shot at an initial victory of the season Friday. Steubenville Big Red is the one that got it.
Playing Friday instead of Saturday, and at the Crimson Complex instead of at East Liverpool to get the game in due to the rainfall Friday morning and forecasted for Saturday, Big Red got a gem on the mound from Matt Fabbro and used discipline at the plate to earn a 7-1 victory.
Matt Fabbro went the distance, striking out 15 batters, allowing just one single and walking four. It is his second complete game in as many starts, as he fanned 12 on opening against Claymont a week prior.
For the Potters (0-3), Donovan Shallcross took the loss, striking out four in four innings with six free passes and two hit batters.
Kasen Ramsey drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the lone East Liverpool run, while Owen Davis had their lone base hit.

BELOIT — West Branch’s baseball team suffered a 9-4 defeat against Keystone on Friday.
Keystone scored five in the first and two in the second to grab the early advantage. West Branch (1-2) was also trailing 13-1 early in a game against Howland on Thursday night that had to be abandoned due to rain.
Anthony Perry took the loss with two strikeouts and no walks in two innings.
Perry, Jeremiah Thomas and Maddox Coleman had two hits each for Branch.
West Branch will host Minerva on Tuesday.
