Pleska guides Clippers

LISBON — Caitlynn Pleska went 4-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs scored in leading Columbiana past Lisbon, 25-4, in five innings Monday.

Pleska drove in four runs in the Clippers’ 10-run first inning with a two-run single and two-run homer. She added an RBI double in the second inning and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

The Clippers are 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. They will host Lisbon on Wednesday.

Cameron Perkins also went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs, while Maryn Hepler went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs. Ella Dota had three hits, including a double, four runs and two RBIs and Addison Brode homered, singled, drove in four runs and scored two. Anna Yonker had three hits and scored three runs.

Peyton Stoy got her first victory of the season, giving up four earned runs on six hits over five innings. She struck out nine and walked four.

Marah Householder homered for Lisbon. Abby Ammon and Brooklyn Dailey each had two hits. Ammon hit a double and Dailey drove in two runs.

Kamryn Peruchetti took the loss, giving up 22 runs, 14 earned, on 21 hits over 2 2/3 innings. Lexi Roush gave up three runs, two earned on four hits In 2 1/3 innings of relief.

United 12, East Palestine 1

UNITY — Freshman Payten Kekel struck out 12 and had two hits, including a triple, to highlight United’s 12-1 win over East Palestine on Monday. She also drove in two runs and scored two more.

The Eagles improve to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Josie Wargo drove in three runs with a double and a single and scored two runs. Grace Coffee had two hits, including a triple and drove in two runs. Allyson had two hits, including a triple, and scored two runs. Chloe Angelo had two hits and two runs.

Taylor Foster had a single and an RBI for the Bulldogs.

United will host East Palestine on Wednesday.

Southern 19, Heartland 6

COLUMBIANA — Aubree Pucci broke open a close game with nine RBIs over the last five inning as Southern Local topped Heartland Christian, 19-6, Monday.

Pucci went 4-for-5 and added a run. With the score tied 3-3, she hit a two-run double in the third, a three-run double in the third and two-run singles in the sixth and seventh innings.

Kennedy Lewis went 4-for-4 with a double and four runs. Makenna Jones tripled and doubled and Gianna Pecorelli tripled.

Addy Martin went the distance for the victory, allowing four earned runs with three strikeouts and seven walks.

Natalie Barrow had two hits for the Lions, while Rachel Reynolds had a triple two RBIs and two runs and Sarah Reynolds added a triple.

Emily McDowell took the loss, giving up 14 earned runs with six strikeouts and 12 walks.

Southern will play at Beaver Local today.

Crestview 5, Liberty 4

LIBERTY — Emma Snyder struck out 10 and scattered four hits and three walks in Crestview’s 5-4 win over Liberty in five innings Monday.

Alivia Shetler’s three-run homer highlighted a four-run fourth inning that gave the Rebels a 4-3 lead.

Chloe Stoops and Brenna Figley each contributed a double and a run.

Howland 10, Salem 0

SALEM — Brianna Deter tossed a two-hitter in Howland’s 10-0 win over Salem on Monday.

Deter struck out six and walked one.

Leadoff hitter Madison Schmitz tripled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored two more for the Tigers.

Aubrey Kutsko and Mikayla Sneltzer hit singles for the Quakers.

Emilee Lewis took the loss, giving up seven runs, six earned, on one hit in two innings. Morgane Blaine gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits in three innings of relief.

Harrison Central 7, Beaver Local 0

CADIZ — Harrison Central scored five runs in the fifth inning to beat Beaver Local, 7-0, Monday.

Emma Skinner went the distance, scattering five hits with two strikeouts and one walk for the victory.

Kailey Benal had two hits and two RBIs, while Kara Blackburn and Kelsey Powers each had two hits and two runs.

Bryce Curtis collected two hits for the Beavers. Mya Anderson added a double.

Ciara Call took the loss, giving up six runs, four earned, on six hits with two strikeouts and five walks over 4 1/3 innings.

Beaver Local will host Southern today.

Buckeye Local sweeps East Liverpool

EAST LIVERPOOL — Buckeye Local swept East Liverpool, 11-0 and 11-1, in a doubleheader Monday at chilly Patterson Field.

Hailey Kovalski tossed a one-hitter as Buckeye Local downed East Liverpool, 11-0, in five innings in the opener.

She struck out six and walked one in the shutout.

Kari Lander went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs, while Adison Muldrew went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs. Tatum Walker Aldo had two hits and three RBIs.

Chloe Galeoti singled for the Potters’ only hit.

Cate Davis took the loss, giving up 11 earned runs with one strikeout and two walks in five innings.

In the second game, East Liverpool’s Alana McGonigal had two single and Cate Davis hit a home run.

Addie Jones pitched three innings and Cate Davis came in the last inning.

East Liverpool will host Indian Creek on Wednesday.
