Perfect game at state bowling
COLUMBUS — Claymont senior Riley Milburn rolled a 300 game Saturday to claim Division II state runner-up honors at HP Lanes.
Milburn had games of 235 and 209 before finishing it off with a 300 game for a 744 series. It was the third perfect game in Division II boys state tournament history. He rolled a 300 game in practice in January.
He came within 20 pins of state champion Christopher Ritchie, a Mechanicsburg senior. Ritchie had a 764 series (233-296-235). Ritchie, who has three 300 games to his credit, opened the second game with 11 straight strikes.
Bellefontaine Benjamin Logan won the team title by topping defending state champion Marion Pleasant, 270-257, in the fifth and deciding baker game. Marion Pleasant opened the with a 300 baker game for the early lead.
The Division I state tournament will be held this weekend with the girls on Friday and the boys on Saturday.
