Sloan leads Indians
SALINEVILLE — Southern Local came on late to down Buckeye Local 63-58 in overtime on Friday.
Southern outscored the Panthers 27-12 in the fourth quarter and 14-9 in overtime to take the win.
Braxton Sloan made two free throws with 23 seconds left in overtime to force overtime. The freshman led the way with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 13 steals.
Richie Sloan’s steal and layup tied the game at 58 with 39 seconds left. Aaron Keoppel’s steal and two free throws with 33 seconds left in overtime sealed the win.
The Indians moved to 9-12, while Buckeye fell to 4-18.
Southern is at Lisbon today.
Buckeye won the jayvee game, 41-19. Ben Paxson had seven points for the Indians.

United 58, Urban Scholars 22
HANOVERTON — United won for the second time in 10 games by downing Youngstown Urban Scholars, 58-22, Friday.
The Eagles improve to 5-16 on the season, including two victories over winless Urban Scholars.
United will wrap up the regular season at Wellsville on Saturday.
Mathews 70, Columbiana 68, OT
VIENNA — Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference co-champs Columbiana suffered a 70-68 overtime loss to Mathews on Friday.
Columbiana fell to 19-3 and will host the winner of Campbell and Southern in a Div. VI district semifinal on Feb. 25.
Columbiana’s Cooper Brown hit a three at the end of regulation to send it to overtime. Brown led the Clippers with 24 points, three steals, three blocks and three rebounds. Seth Struharik added 21 points three assists and four rebounds.
Mathews is 17-5 and will host Lowellville in a Div. VII sectional contest on Feb. 22.
Mathews won the jayvee game, 43-30. Trey Snyder had 10 points for the Clippers.
