Wellsville off to a great start in the EOAC

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville continued its strong start in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 45-31 win over Valley Christian on Monday.

Wellsville is 4-2 and 3-0 in the EOAC.

Bella Poppelriter had 20 points to lead the Tigers, while Myleigh Jackson had 15 points and six rebounds.

Johnnie Tice added four points and six steals.

Wellsville is at Leetonia on Thursday.

COLUMBIANA — McDonald out scored Heartland by 14 points in the fourth quarter to come back to win 50-40 on Monday in girls basketball action.

For Heartland, Emily McDowell had 12 points, wile Sarah Reynolds added eight points.

Gracie Callow had 18 points to lead the winners, while Juliana Krumpack had 16.

Heartland is 1-3 and is at Toronto on Thursday.

United 47, Lisbon 14

LISBON — United’s girls basketball team got 19 points, six steals and four rebounds from Maelee Smith in a 47-14 win over Lisbon on Monday.

Bailey McKenzie added eight points and seven rebounds for the Eagles. Reagan Good had seven points and five rebounds, while Ally Lacey added four points, five steals and five assists.

United hosts Valley on Thursday.

Harrison 25, East Liverpool 19

EAST LIVERPOOL — Harrison Central outdistanced East Liverpool 25-19 on Monday in a girls basketball contest.

The Potters fall to 3-3. Harrison is 4-2.

Kenzie Headley led the winners with eight points.

East Liverpool hosts Indian Creek Wednesday.

East Liverpool won the jayvee game, 29-23.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s girls basketball team defeated East Palestine 62-5 on Monday.

Columbiana moved to 6-0 and 3-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Annah Clemmer led the Clippers with 15 points in a balanced team effort.

East Palestine is 1-5 and 0-3.

The Bulldogs will be at Lisbon on Thursday, while Columbiana is at Southern on Thursday.

LEETONIA — Southern Local rolled to a 47-12 win over Leetonia on Monday in EOAC play.

Southern is 3-3 and 1-0 in the EOAC.

Allyssa Shroades had 17 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists for the Indians. Haylee Kellogg added eight points, eight rebounds and three steals. McKenna Jones had three rebounds and three assists. Maddy Jones had nine rebounds, two steals and three assists, while Addy Martin had five rebounds. Hailey Maines had four rebounds and two assists.

Taylor Chapman had five points for Leetonia. The Bears host Wellsville on Thursday.

The Indians host Columbiana Thursday.

WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek put away Beaver Local 57-14 on Monday in Buckeye 8 play.

Beaver Local falls to 1-5 and will be at United on Saturday.

Indian Creek is 4-1.

Potters sweep Eagles

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s bowling team swept its matches against United on Monday at Walnut Lanes.

East Liverpool won the boys’ match 1,893-1,974. Jayden McDole had a 221 high game and a 424 series for the Potters. Jacob Gibas added a 176 high game and a 342 series.

For United, Josh Hawkins had a 254 high game and a 421 series. Luke Hall had a 212 high game and a 394 series.

East Liverpool is 3-3.

East Liverpool took the girls match, 2,041-1,419. Addison Rudibaugh had a 258 high game and a 482 series for the Potters. Jenna Jones and Lainey Rudibaugh had 180 high games.

For United, Lauren Painter had a 165 high game and a 286 series. Zariah Elrod had a 142 high game.

East Liverpool’s girls are 3-3.

East Liverpool hosts Southern on Wednesday.

Wellsville triumphs

EAST LIVERPOL — Wellsville’s bowling team stopped Heartland Christian 1,880-1,440 on Monday at Walnut Lanes.

For the Tigers, Tyler Landess had a 258 high game and a 493 series. Makayla Landess added a 211 high game and a 386 series.

Wellsville (4-0) plays Chaney on Wednesday at Boardman Lanes.
