HANOVERTON — Heartland Christian scored 45 points in the first half and rolled over United, 75-41, Friday.
Collin Kalaher scored 19 points for the Lions. Jacob Reed collected 14 points, Isaiah Matthews 12, Body Conway 11 and Jack Morgan eight.
Jason Pratt topped the Eagles with 19 points. Luke Mercer added eight.
Heartland (2-1) will host Leetonia on Saturday, while United (0-2) entertains Urban Scholars on Saturday.
United won the junior varsity game, 64-38, behind Kota Shasteen’s 18 points. Alex Hamilton had eight points for the Lions.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s Seth Struharik’s scored two more points than the Urban Scholar’s roster as the Clippers stormed to a 54-16 win on Friday.
Struharik dropped in seven buckets from the field for a game-high 18 points. The Clippers, who were up 40-6 at the half, also got a big boost from Hunter DeVanzo who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Cooper Brown registered seven assists.

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville missed 11 free throws and dropped a 50-43 decision to Steubenville Catholic Central on Friday.
Tommy Pergi scored 15 points, Benji Rook 14 and Camden Bradley 11 for the Crusaders.
Tyrell Watkins paced Wellsville with 16 points and eight rebounds. Darnell Roe added 11 points, Andrew Mackey 1grabbed 1 rebounds and Austin Adkins dised out four assists.
Wellsville (0-2) will host East Palestine for a boys-girls doubleheader Saturday starting with the girls game at 11 a.m.
Wellsville won the junior varsity game, 43-34, as Haydin Oliver scored 13 points.

Alliance 60, Salem 51
SALEM — Alliance opened and closed with big quarters, scoring 18 points in the first and 19 in the fourth to turn away home-standing Salem, 60-51, on Friday.
The Quakers finished with just one less field goal than Alliance but the Aviators were nearly perfect at the line — 13-of-14 — to seal the deal.
Salem was led by Deaontay Steele’s 13 points. Evan Jones dropped in five buckets for 11 points, while Ty Manion and Cletis Monroy added nine and seven points, respectively
Alliance’s JR Jackson led all scorers with 17, while fellow Aviators Bray Sears, Samual Hays and Cole Pasco each chipped in nine points apiece.
Salem won the junior varsity game, 67-36, as Andres, Mango, Van Dyne each had 10 points.

Minerva 67, West Branch 56
BELOIT — Despite jumping out to 16-2 lead over visiting Minerva on Friday, the Lions proved too much for West Branch, 57-56, Friday.
Minerva (2-1) was able to withstand the early onslaught from West Branch before pulling off a 10-0 run in the second quarter and knotting the game, 29-29, at the half. The Lions built a 10-point lead by the end of three quarters.
West Branch (0-2) was able to pull within six points in the final two minutes but started to send the Lions to the foul line where Minerva sank the late-game free throws.
A quartet of Lions notch double digits. Jayden Yerger led with a game-game 22 points, Rowan Hoffee and Braydon Wood each scored 14 and Owen Shick finished with 11.
The Warriors’ top scorer was Cooper Anderson, who scored 19 points. Gavin Gregory contributed 15.
