Windham 50, Southern 35

WINDHAM — Windham is working its way through the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Bombers improved to 3-0 vs. EOAC foes as they beat Southern Local, 50-35, in a Division VII playoff opener Friday night.

Jack Eye ran for four touchdowns, including three in the final 17 minutes, and added a two-point conversion run for Windham.

Windham improves to 10-1 and will play at second-seeded Jeromesville Hillsdale next Friday. Hillsdale (10-1) advanced with a 55-12 win over Fairport Harbor Harding (6-5) on Friday.

Windham defeated Lisbon (49-6) and East Palestine (45-12) in the first two weeks of the season.

Richie Sloan opened the scoring for Southern with a 2-yard run and Timmy Potts scored the two-point conversion with 8:33 to play in the first quarter.

Windham came back to take a 20-6 lead on an Eye 22-yard run and Carlos Bruton 5-yard run and a 55-yard pass.

Potts got into the end zone from 3 yards out to pull the Indians within 20-15 with 7:05 left in the second quarter.

Sloan and Brody Brown had touchdown runs in the third quarter, while Windham countered with a 65-yard kickoff return and an Eye 37-yard run as the Bombers led 34-29 at the 5:02 mark.

Another Eye run put the Bombers ahead 42-29 with 9:12 remaining in the fourth quarter. Landen Heffner caught an 11-yard pass from Potts as the Indians closed the gap to 42-35 with 6:33 remaining.

An Eye 55-yard run with 4:28 to play put the Bombers up 50-35.

Southern wraps up the season at 6-5.
