Ex-Quakers make Mount Union history
BEREA — The Mount Union and Baldwin Wallace women’s wrestling teams made history Tuesday.
In the first-ever dual meet for both programs, Baldwin Wallace won seven of 10 matches for a 35-16 win at Ursprung Gymnastium on Wednesday.
Salem High School graduates Karlie Stith and Ilani Jones-Wallace accounted the first two of Mount Union’s three victories.
Stith posted a 6-1 decision over Baldwin Wallace’s Hattie Hobar at 145 pounds, while Jones-Wallace won by forfeit at 138 pounds.
Baldwin Wallace freshman and Boardman High School graduate Lexi Beadle won the 131-pound match with a pin over Mount Union’s Iliana Men-Hartley.
The Purple Raiders will compete in John Carroll Round Robin Duals on Sunday.
Crestview bowlers sweep Campbell
SALEM — Peyton Mellott rolled a 259 game to highlight Crestview’s sweep of Campbell Memorial Wednesday at Hunt Club Lanes.
The Crestview boys won 2,284-1,635 at Mellott had a two-game series of 494. Brody Brubaker added a 371 series and Braden Davine a 359 series.
The Crestview girls also won, 1,708-1,393, as Lydia Campbell rolled a 182 game. Leaders for the Rebels were Abbey Emch with a 323 series, Campbell with a 322 series and Blasey Biser with a 266 series.
