Rebels register 46th straight regular season victory
COLUMBIANA — Crestview, the No. 2 ranked team in the Div. V state coaches poll, made it a clean sweep of the season with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-16 win over Mineral Ridge on Wednesday.
The Rebels are 22-0 and have won 46 straight regular season matches. Crestview has only dropped one game this season on Aug. 20 to East Liverpool.
Abbey Emch had 24 kills, a block and eight digs for the Rebels. Lainy Auer had 10 kills, 10 assists, three blocks, two aces and nine digs. Sophia Datillio had two kills and three blocks. Bailey Ash had six aces and six digs, while Sophia Stewart had 23 assists and a block.
Crestview’s jayvee team finished 21-0 with a 25-17, 25-27, 25-20 win. Kerrigan Miller had 10 kills, 19 digs and two aces. Kaylie Blakeman had three aces, nine points and five digs. Laney Boano had five points and 11 digs.
Crestview hosts Ravenna Southeast in the Div. V tournament on Oct. 17.
Wellsville 3, Leetonia 0
LEETONIA — Bella Poppelriter had 10 kills, five aces, 14 assists and seven digs in Wellsville’s 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 win over Leetonia on Wednesday.
Myleigh Jackson added five aces, two assists and nine digs. Aleena Owens had two aces, four kills, an assist and five digs. Maddy Drysdale added four kills, while Kenzie Bosco had six kills. Olivia Edison had four kills and seven assists. Gracie Dowling had six aces, three kills and five digs.
Wellsville is 17-4 and 10-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Tigers will play Caldwell for the OVAC 2A title on Saturday at the ECO Center.
Springfield 3, East Palestine 2
EAST PALESTINE — Springfield edged East Palestine in a hard-fought five-set match, winning 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12 on Wednesday.
For East Palestine, Elle Berger led the defense with 41 digs and also contributed 15 points, three aces and five kills. Amara Wilson had a strong presence at the net with 12 kills, 15 digs, five points and three blocks. Marley Blythe added 10 kills, 14 digs, seven points and three aces, while Kennedy Andre and Cami Kridler split setting duties with 13 assists each. Andre also added 12 points and two aces, while Kridler chipped in with eight digs and five points. Alyssa Dilling rounded out the effort with 15 digs, five points and five kills.
In JV action, Springfield won 25-20, 25-22. For East Palestine, Miranda Perkins scored five points with three aces, and Aubrey Weber contributed four points.
East Palestine will face Valley Christian today, itsfourth game in four nights.
Southern OVAC tri
PADEN CITY, W.Va. — Southern beat Paden City 25-7, 25-13 and Cameron 25-16, 19-25, 25-13 on Wednesday in an OVAC consolation tri.
Against Paden City, Kennedy Lewis had 16 points, while Kiah Sloan and Allyssa Shroades had four kills each.
Against Cameron, Lewis had 15 points, while Cheyenne Buzzard had 14 points and six kills. Gianna Pecorelli had eight kills, while Cheyenne Bennett had 20 assists. Sloan had 10 kills.
Southern is 12-10 and play Loudonville on Oct. 19 at Kirtland in a tournament game.
Lisbon OVAC tri
STEUBENVILLE — Lisbon came up empty in an OVAC consolation tri on Wednesday at Steubenville Central.
The Devils lost to the hosts, 25-12, 25-17 and lost to Frontier 25-21, 17-25, 26-24.
For the night, Stefanee Stacey led Lisbon with 24 digs, 29 assists and six aces. Maddie Marshalek contributed 12 kills, eight digs, and seven points, while Cheyanne Nez added 10 kills. Abby Ammon had 14 digs, eight points and four kills and Diamond Bailey chipped in with 10 digs. Izzy Lannon recorded five digs and five kills, and Gionna Lenigar finished with four 4 kills and three saves.
Girard 3, Salem 0
SALEM — Salem dropped its final home match of the season 25-5, 25-15, 25-14 on Tuesday against Girard.
It was a Volley for a Cure match and Salem is making a monetary donation to the Salem Regional Medical Center Breast Cancer Unit.
