Clippers perfect in EOAC

LISBON — Columbiana’s volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 25-15, 25-9, 25-18 win over Lisbon on Thursday.

The Clippers are 21-1 and 14-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The team went 42-1 in league sets.

For the Clippers, Ellie Jackson had two kills, two aces, 16 assists, 10 points and three digs. Ava Heinrich had two kills, five aces, 13 points and 11 digs. Maryn Hepler had two kills, five points and 11 digs. Cameron Perkins had five kills, five aces, seven assists, nine points and four digs. Danica Halas had two kills, an ace, three points and three digs. Landry Smith ahd five kills and a block. Kelsey Cameron had five kills and two blocks.

Lisbon finishes the regular season at 11-11 overall and 7-7 in the EOAC.

For the Blue Devils, Stefanee Stacey had nine assists, Cheyanne Nez six kills, Maddie Marshalek four kills and 10 digs, Gionna Lenigar three kills and Abby Ammon nine digs.

Columbiana also won the jayvee portion, 25-4, 25-11. Eva Waller had 11 aces, 16 assists, 29 points and two digs for the Clippers. Layla McCarthy added nine kills, five aces and five digs. Evy Rapp had eight digs and two kills. Topping Lisbon were Addison Anderson with nine digs, Ariel Dickey Smith five digs and Alayna Householder two kills.

The Clipper freshman won 25-14, 25-9 as Sydney Webb had 11 points, four aces and six assists. For Lisbon, Sofia Brown had three kills, Lillian Tenzek 11 passes and Emmy Haynes five passes and two aces.

Columbiana opens tournament play with a home match against Clearview on Thursday.

East Liverpool 3,

Union Local 2

BELMONT — The East Liverpool volleyball team finished the regular season in impressive fashion by topping state-ranked Union Local, 25-22, 27-29, 25-16, 23-25, 15-12,

East Liverpool improves to 16-5, including two wins over Union Local, which is ranked fifth in the Division V state poll. Union Local drops to 18-3.

Ava Green powered the Potters with 30 kills and two blocks, while Addison Rudibaugh turned in her best match of the season with seven kills and four blocks. Kamryn Yaggi totaled 63 assists, Ayla Brown four aces and 17 kills, Kenzie Headley 11 kills and six blocks, Cate Davis two aces, two kills and five blocks, Ayla Riggle 18 digs and Kendra Lacey 12 digs.

There was no junior varsity match.

The Potters open sectional tournament play by hosting Cambridge at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

United 3, Leetonia 0

HANOVERTON — United got a big assist Thursday.

Freshman Rileah Phillips had 21 assists as she surpassed 500 on the season in the Eagles’ 25-10, 25-10, 25-10 win over Leetonia.

The Eagles improve to 11-10 overall and 9-4 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference for a third-place finish.

Kendall Erb contributed 15 points, Zoee Smith 11 kills and Olivia Hardgrove four digs.

United also won the junior varsity match, 25-5, 25-3. Chloe Angelo and Scarlett Courtney each had seven aces with Angelo adding five kills. Brittany Miller had six aces and 11 assists.

East Palestine 3, Valley 0

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine swept Valley Christian in straight sets, 25-4, 25-21, 25-19, in Tuesday night volleyball action.

Elle Berger led the Bulldogs (8-14, 5-9 in the EOAC) with seven kills, 12 digs and eight points. Marley Blythe added seven kills, five digs, seven points and three aces, while Cami Kridler was strong from the service line with 19 points, five aces and 10 assists. Amara Wilson chipped in with four kills, seven digs, 12 points and three aces. Alyssa Dilling contributed six kills and seven digs, and Kennedy Andre rounded out the performance with 11 assists and five digs.

In junior varsity action, East Palestine cruised to a 25-6, 25-9 victory. Kennedy Conaway had nine points and five aces, Randi Murphy served up seven points and six aces and Jordan Herstine added six points and four aces.

East Palestine will head to Waterloo for the Division VI tournament on Wednesday.

Salem jayvee

SALEM — The future seems bright for the Salem volleyball program as the Quaker jayvees stopped Hubbard 25-19, 25-14 on Thursday.

For the Quakers, Addy Ewing had seven kills, while Kenna Mayhew added five kills and three aces.

Salem ends its season at 17-5.
