Eagles upset Tigers

HANOVERTON — United turned in a 58-52 win over Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference favorites Wellsville on Friday.

Parker Berdine led the winners with 15 points, nine of which were scored in the first quarter. Steffen Jarrett was tough on the boards with 14 points.

United led by as much as eight in the fourth quarter only to see the Tigers cut the lead to one late.

Jaxson Brewer had 18 points for the Tigers. Isaiah Greathouse, who fouled out late, added 17 points.

The Eagles (1-1, 1-0) were able to close with timely free throw shooting.

United hosts Crestview on Tuesday. Wellsville (1-1, 0-1) is at Southern next Friday.

United won the jayvee game, 43-34. Beau Eichler had 15 points for the Eagles. Elijah Douglas had 14 points for the Tigers.

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian extended its perfect start with a 74-38 win over Leetonia on Friday.

Jonathan Bertovich had 19 points to lead the Lions, 4-0. Stephen Barnes had 11 points.

Heartland will visit Jackson-Milton on Tuesday.

Joe Guido had 15 points for the Bears, 0-2.

Heartland won the jayvee game, 37-31.

GREENFORD — Louisville’s boys basketball team dumped South Range 61-39 on Friday.

Dylan Turkey and Landon Moore had eight points each for the Raiders, 0-2.

The Leopards also won the jayvee game, 58-34.

South Range hosts West Branch on Tuesday.

LISBON — Trevor Siefke had 21 points, five assists and four steals as Lisbon bested Jefferson County Christian 63-52 on Friday.

Hunter Dailey added 12 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Sturgeon picked up six boards.

Lisbon is 2-1 and hosts Urban Scholars Tuesday.

Lisbon won the jayvee game, 59-35. Alex Schreffler and Giovanni Estrada had 13 points each.

CORTLAND — Maplewood’s boys basketball team bounced East Palestine 61-36 on Friday.

East Palestine falls to 0-2.

The Bulldogs will host Valley Christian next Friday.
