Running clock in basketball

COLUMBUS — The running clock is coming to Ohio high school basketball games this season.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors approved a proposal Thursday to implement the second-half running clock rule in regular-season games beginning this fall.

A running clock will be used if the lead reaches 35 points in the second half. It will be stopped for time outs and injuries. The running clock has been used in tournament play since 2018.

The regular season opens Nov. 19 for girls and Nov. 24 for boys.
