Crestview 3, Waterloo 0

COLUMBIANA — Crestview’s volleyball team earned the top seed in the Div. III district for a reason and the Rebels downed 23rd seed Waterloo 25-4, 25-6, 25-7 on Tuesday in the sectional opener.

Grace Auer had eight kills, 21 assists, nine aces and 25 points. Abbey Emch had 12 kills and two blocks. Lucy Montgomery had nine kills, seven aces, eight digs and 12 points. Emily Downey had 10 points.

Crestview is 23-0 and will host a pair of sectional matches on Thursday.

The Rebels will play No. 22 seed East Canton at 6 p.m. followed by East Palestine taking on Pymatuning Valley at 7:30 p.m.

Crestview is ranked sixth in the state in the last Div. III Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Assocition poll of the season.

Salem 3, Struthers 0

BELOIT — Salem struck down Struthers 25-14, 25-18, 26-24 on Tuesday in a Div. II sectional opener at West Branch High School.

For the Quakers, Jenna McClish had 14 digs. Zoie Reid had eight kills. Hannah Bowers had seven aces.

Salem (13-8) will face West Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Mentor Lake Catholic in the sectional final.

West Branch 3, Southeast 0

BELOIT — West Branch beat Southeast 25-10, 25-12, 25-5 on Tuesday in a Div. II sectional opener.

West Branch is 19-4 and will play Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Mentor Lake Catholic.

For West Branch, Anna Curry had 34 points and three aces. Sydney Mercer had 15 points and 17 kills.. Hannah Rush added 26 assists.

Wellsville 3, Urban Scholars 0

WELLSVILLE — Top-seed Wellsville easily knocked off Youngstown’s Academy of Urban Scholars 25-1, 25-5, 25-5 on Tuesday in a Div. IV sectional opener.

Emily McNicol had four kills, nine aces and four assists. Paige Green had 12 aces, four kills and an assist. Alana Amato had six aces and five assists. Presley Stokes had five kills and three assists. Myleigh Jackson had five aces, a kill and a block. Gia Pucci had six aces.

Wellsville (23-0) will host a sectional finals on Thursday with Lisbon taking on Ashtabula St. John at 6 p.m. and then the host Tigers playing Lowellville at 7:30 p.m.

The Tigers are ranked ninth in the state in Div. IV in the final Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll of the season.

Heartland 3, Warren JFK 1

BROOKFIELD — Heartland’s volleyball team beat Warren JFK 25-18, 16-25, 25-15, 25-22 on Tuesday in a Div. IV sectional opener at Brookfield High School.

Heartland will face No. 2 seed Western Reserve at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Western Reserve High School in the sectional final. Sebring will face Brookfield in the other sectional final to follow.

Sebring was a 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 winner over Bristol on Tuesday.

Campbell 3, United 1

LEAVITTSBURG — Campbell Memorial rallied for a 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 win over United Local on Tuesday in a Div. III sectional contest at Leavittsburg High School.

United fell to 6-15 and has lost six straight. The Eagles won just two of the last 15 to end the season.

For the Eagles, Grayson Kidder had 12 points with three aces and Taylor Cope had 10 points with six aces.

Campbell is 9-14 and will face No. 2 seed Kirtland at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Kirtland.

The Red Devils were 1-13 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division this season.

Brooke 3, Oak Glen 1

WELLSBURG — Brooke’s volleyball team beat Oak Glen 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18 in regular-season action Tuesday.

Ashlyn Six had 16 kills for the Golden Bears. Makayla Zoellers and Gracie Wright each had five kills. Gracie Wright had 26 assists and four aces.

Oak Glen is at Weir on Thursday.
