Indians dodge Devils

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local got past Lisbon, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.

The Indians improve to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Kya McCulley had nine points and 15 digs and Ashley Shroades nine points, 38 spikes and 15 kills for the Indians. Rylee Mellott collected eight points, 82 sets, 20 assists and eight kills; Ronni Mayfield five points, 56 sets and 24 assists; Adriana Gilliam seven kills; and Aleah Bach five kills.

Eliza Baker had five points, 12 kills and 17 digs for the Blue Devils. Parker Henthorne had eight points and five kills. McKenna Dailey had 24 digs.

Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-5, 25-16. For the Indians, Kennedy Lewis had 11 points, Grace Brothers five points and two kills and Olivia Kerns five kills.

The Indians will play at United on Tuesday.

Wellsville 3, East Palestine 0

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville dropped East Palestine 25-16, 25-17, 25-12 to continue to lead the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Tigers (8-0, 6-0 in the EOAC) were led by Presley Stokes’ 16 kills, five aces and a block. Alana Amato had 13 kills and five aces. Emily McNicol added 16 assists and three kills. Sam Drysdale had two blocks and three kills. Brooke Hackney had three kills. Aubri Ramsey had 10 digs. Paige Green had nine assists.

The Bulldogs (7-3, 4-3 EBC) got four kills and 16 digs from Mackenzie Parker, five aces and four assists from Ceci foster, six points and one ace from Gia Brestelli, three aces, one dig and six kills and Marah Zimmerman six kills.

Wellsville also won the junior varsity match, 25-19, 25-16.

Crestview 3, Liberty 0

COLUMBIANA — Crestview reached double-digits in wins as the Rebels tripped up Liberty 25-18, 25-16, 25-14 on Thursday.

The Rebels are 10-0 and 6-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division.

For the Rebels, Lucy Montgomery had 17 kills and 11 assists. Grace Auer had 12 kills and 17 assists. Abbey Emch had seven kills and three aces. Shelby Rambo had five kills and six digs.

Crestview won the jayvee match, 25-11, 25-12. Madalyn Black had seven kills and three aces. Katie Lissi had five kills and three aces.

Crestview is at Mooney on Saturday.

Columbiana 3, United 0

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana volleyball team swept the season series from United, 25-8, 25-7, 25-21, Thursday.

The Clippers improve to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Eagles move to 4-5 and 2-5 EOAC.

Julia Rapp totaled 15 points, four aces, seven kills and two digs and Tori Long 14 points, two aces, seven kills and 22 digs for the Clippers. Liv Cmil contributred eight points, four kills and 20 digs; Ava Heinrich eight points, five aces, two kills and three digs; and Kelsey Cameron three kills and two blocks.

Grace Knight had five points with three acesf or the Eagles.

There was no junior varsity match.

Columbiana will play at Heartland on Saturday, while United hosts Salem on Monday.

Valley 3, Leetonia 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Valley Christian posted a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 win over Leetonia on Thursday.

Ella Gregorino had 22 digs, Alexis Solomon Hansen had six kills and Kayla Kaminski served four ace for the Bears.

Leetonia won the junior varsity match in two games.

Salem 3, Carrollton 2

CARROLLTON — Salem held off Carrollton 24-26, 13-25, 25-17, 25-22, 16-14 on Thursday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

West Branch 3, Minerva 0

MINERVA — West Branch stayed unbeaten with a 25-8, 25-14, 25-12 win over Minerva on Thursday.

Adele Peters had 27 points and seven aces for the winners. Claire Brunner had 10 points and four aces. Hannah Rush had 20 assists. Sydney Mercer had eight kills.

West Branch is 9-0 and 3-0 in the league.

The Warriors won the jayvee match, 25-18, 22-25, 25-11.

Oak Glen 3, Edison 0

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s volleyball team spiked Edison 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 on Thursday.

Ashlyn Six had 18 kills and three aces. Makayla Zoellers added six kills and three blocks. Emma Renfro had five kills and an ace. Gracie Wright had 32 assists and an ace.

Oak Glen is 5-3.

The Golden Bears won the jayvee match in two straight sets. Tia Vick had six kills. Reecelyn Craig added five kills, 10 digs and two aces. Kensington McConnachie had 10 assists and two aces. Kaylex Gibson had six assists and two aces.
