Devils outlast Eagles

LISBON — Lisbon battled United to a 25-21, 26-28, 23-25, 25-23, 15-6 win on Thursday in an EOAC matchup.

For Lisbon, Parker Henthorne had 12 points, 10 kills and 10 digs. Eliza Baker added 17 kills and 32 digs. Mya Emmerling had 14 points, while Kelsi Burns had 7 points and eight kills. McKenna Dailey had 28 digs. Madison Marriner had 10 digs.

For the Eagles, Grayson Kidder had 13 points with three aces. Taylor Cope had 11 points with four aces.

Lisbon is 3-9 and hosts Malvern on Monday.

Lisbon won the jayvee portion 25-19, 25-20.

For Lisbon, Hannah Weems had 12 points.

Columbiana 3, East Palestine 1

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana survived a loss in a marathon first game to rally past East Palestine, 33-35, 25-10, 25-22, 25-20, Thursday.

For the Clippers, Tori Long had eight kills, five aces, 28 digs and 21 points. Julia Rapp had 12 kills, four digs and six points. Ava Heinrich had seven kills, four aces, nine digs and seven points. Cameron Perkins had five kills, 10 assists and 20 digs. Tomi Ross added 20 assists. Liv Cmil had 26 digs.

Columbiana is 11-3 and 8-2 in the EOAC. East Palestine fell to 8-5 and 5-4.

For the Bulldogs, Mia Lee had four points, four blocks and 14 kills. Mackenzie Parker had 14 assists. Ceci Foster had 13 assists and three points. Gia Brestelli had nine points and 20 digs. Sophia Foster had 28 digs amd six kills.

Columbiana won the jayvee match, 25-27, 25-19, 25-18. Danica Halas had five kills for the winners. Gabby Andre had 15 points for the Bulldogs.

Columbiana is at Southern on Tuesday. East Palestine hosts Lisbon on Tuesday.

Southern 3, Leetonia 0

LEETONIA — Southern made short work of Leetonia with a 25-13, 25-21, 25-12 win on Thursday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

For the Indians (9-2, 7-1), Adrianna Gilliam had 15 points and six kills. Ronni Mayfield had 10 points and 10 assists. Rylee Mellott added eight points and 14 assists. Kya McCulley had 14 digs. Ashley Shroades had six kills.

Southern is at state-ranked Wellsville on Saturday.

Southern won the jayvee portion 25-15, 25-20. For Southern (8-1), Cheyenne Bennett had nine points andsix assists. Chelsei Veglia added eight points and five digs.

Wellsville 3, Valley Christian 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Wellsville’s volleyball team continued its mastery over the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 25-7, 25-10, 25-7 win over Valley Christian on Thursday.

For the Tigers (11-0, 8-0 in the EOAC), Presley Stokes had 13 kills, 10 aces and two digs. Emily McNicol had 15 assists and five kills. Paige Green had 17 assists. Alana Amato added seven kills and three aces. Gia Pucci had five kills and two aces. Sam Drysdale had four kills. Aubri Ramsey had five digs and three aces. Brooke Hackney had two kills.

Wellsville won the jayvee match, 25-5, 25-9.

Wellsville hosts Southern on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.

Crestview 3, Brookfield 0

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview volleyball team extended its win streak to start the season with a 27-25, 25-22, 25-15 win over Brookfield on Thursday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division action.

Abbey Emch had 14 kills for the winners, while Grace Auer added 13 kills, 15 assists and 11 digs. Lucy Montgomery had 10 kills and 16 assists. Kendra Greaves had 12 digs.

Crestview is 14-0 and 9-0 in the league. The Rebels will host Alliance and Heartland on Saturday.

Crestview’s jayvees improved to 14-0 with a 25-13, 25-7 win. Alyssa Smotherman had nine assists and two aces. Madalyn Black had three kills and six aces.

Indian Creek 3, East Liverpool 0

WINTERSVILLE — East Liverpool returned to the court on Thursday and fell to Indian Creek 25-22, 25-23, 25-22.

Kyia White had 12 kills and six blocks for the Potters. Naudia Williams added six kills. Gabby George had 14 assists and seven points.

East Liverpool won the jayvee match 25-20, 25-10. Kenzie Headley had four kills and Peityn Maze added 16 points.

East Liverpool (6-4) is at Beaver Local on Saturday.

Salem 3, Minerva 0

MINERVA — Salem’s volleyball team stopped Minerva 25-8, 25-23, 25-11 on Thursday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

For Salem (9-5, 5-2), Rylie Troy had 10 kills and 16 digs. Zoie Reid had eight kills. Jenna McClish had 14 digs and Emma Hochadel had three aces, 15 assists and six digs.

West Branch 3, Alliance 0

BELOIT — West Branch’s volleyball team spiked Alliance 25-22, 25-20, 25-16 on Thursday.

Ragan Greeniesen and Claire Brunner had 10 points each for the Warriors. Hannah Rush added 32 assists. Sydney Mercer had 20 kills. Greeniesen had 21 digs and Adele Peters added 20 digs.

West Branch is 12-1 and 4-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

Alliance won the jayvee portion, 12-25, 28-26, 25-20.

Josie Milliken had 13 points and five aces for the Warriors.

Western Reserve 3, Sebring 0

BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve bested Sebring, 25-16, 25-16, 25-13 on Thursday.

For the Devils, Alyvia Hughes had 13 kills.

Mallory Harshman had 10 assists and eight points for Sebring.
